Seanut, no, I am talking about a closed group you can join, called PIR 11/02/12. There are 200+ of us on there and we share info, pictures, etc. It was great support! There is another closed group you can join called PIR Alumni that is also a great source of info. We would love to have you! Lots of people have pics up on both pages, btw. Is your daughter MAA or corpsman at San Antonio?

My son started A school on Oct.15th.  He found out yesterday his first duty station.  He doesn't know his report date yet.  I have been reading that they are allowed to ship up to 5000 pounds to their duty station.  Does anyone know how this works?  He has implied that schooling will be closed for 4 days during the Thanksgiving holiday and that they need to use "leave" days if they go home.  I haven't fully understood if that's an option or not because he wants to save his leave days.  We luckily live close enough to go see him.  His completion date is Nov. 30th

Thanks for the info SierrasMom.  dis5150 - my son was div 357. I'm on the RTC facebook page, if that's what you mean. I haven't seen any PIR pics yet. I'm glad there seem to be several of them traveling together. Hopefully they will all do well and make some great lifelong friends along the way.

seanut, what div was your daughter in? My son was in 351. Are you on the PIR 11/02/12 facebook page?

dis5150- Don't know that much about the rooms.  All of the bedding & towels are provided.  There is a small TV in the room too.

Seanut- My daughter was there a week before her class started.  They worked a special event at the airport for vets, worked in the mail room, did data entry for a Chief, etc... They work random jobs including cleaning.  They also have a list of things they have to finish before class starts.  I think it helps them to get used to the base and inprocess.

My son should have arrived in San Antonio from Great Lakes last night. His A school isn't scheduled to begin for at least a week. Any input on what they do while waiting? He thought they'd put him on some type of work duty, but wasn't sure.

My son is now there! :) Can anyone tell me about their rooms? He said it is 2 to a room, with 2 rooms sharing a bathroom. And he has a minifrige and microwave. Do the two rooms have a common living area or is it just the dormrooms/bathrooms? My son doesn't have his cell yet so we can't text, lol! Does he have to buy everything for his room, bedding, laundry stuff, tp, etc? Any info would be awesome, thanks!

Thanks for the info. He will probably just hang out, as he is coming home after graduation anyway (as he is a reservist). :)

Thanks so much! His school will be during all the holidays and I am wondering how much that will push him back. Plus waiting to class up. Hmmm will just have to wait and see I guess. He told me he couldn't have his phone for 2 weeks into A school? I wanted to send it to him at PIR (I can't go!) to give him at the airport, but now I am not sure...

Thanks again for the quick reply!

My son's PIR is 11/2. We are trying to figure out how long MAA school is? He is a reservist and we are trying to figure out when he will be coming home. Thanks for any help!
