Giamarie65 and rowe's mom--- thank you for the encouraging words, talk to my son and OC is tomorrow. I hope everything goes well for him. I believe I am more worried than him. I hope they do take pictures so momma here can see if he was really ok or not. Sometimes I feel like my son doesn't tell me everything so I do not worry. If he only knew that we worry no matter what. I will be glad when he gets leave on weekends and I can see him. I have been blesses to have A school only 3 hours away.

Good Morning everyone,

I havent been on here for a while so I thought I would drop in..

I fly to San Antonio on Wednesday for my Sailor's graduation and am so excited.

He has one final test and his final PRT on Monday . I know he will do well but always praying for him and all of the Sailors.

My son said the biggest thing is to make sure you take note and pay attention and you will be fine..

he hated the OC spray but said it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be.

His Birthday was last Friday and it was definately a hard day for me because this was the first birthday in 23 years we were not together,, but I will make up next Friday when I see him.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

TexanMom, I was also very worried.  My son became obsessed with it and afraid that he would not be able to do it and pass (it didn't help that they marched the new SR's by the OC test for them to see/hear all of the screaming every Monday).  No worries, once it is over they are so relieved.  They have a "buddy" that helps them get through it.  It was painful, but I feel he was just relieved that it was behind him.  His buddy took a few pictures and we were able to see them afterwards.  He was a new man once this was over!  After they pass this OC test, they are treated a little better by everyone--right of passage type of thing :) Prayers help; I had everyone praying!  I can't remember exactly, but soon after the OC test they are allowed to leave base, but must wear their uniform.  A few weeks after that, they must pass a few more tests in order to go into Phase 2/leaving base and can wear civilian clothes.  On weekends they do not have to muster until 1:00 AM in this phase.  Good luck to your son--he will get through it.  Let us know how it goes.

Texas Mom. He will handle OC training fine once his skin calms down. My Daughter did it some time in Jan. She looked pretty bad, but she lived through it. It's a very important thing to do, I've been where Pepper Spray been used and that was shocking. This way they know what to except.

Hi Nancy - thank you for the cheering me up...I am very worried about the OC Spray and pray that my son handles it well.  I believe my son should be finished with A school in Mid November.  I hope my son post pictures so I can see how he is doing.  I don't think my son can leave the base yet, I believe that he mentioned that he had to stay on base when he had any liberty time.

TexanMom , my son too enjoys A school. He also completes training 9/27. We enjoy the contact he has been allowed. We are anxious to visit with him soon.

Prayers go out to all our military.

TexanMom - It will pick up soon enough.  My son loves MAA training.  He worked out, went to the pool and mall to kill time in the beginning.  Once they complete the OC Spray, things pick up.  As painful as that was, he said it was fun.  He posted pictures afterwards.  He really enjoyed weapons training.  He now has duty and other responsiblities.  He is in Phase 2 so he can leave base and wear his civvies.  He has made some great friends and has had a great experience.  He will complete his training on 9/27.

Hello Everyone - My son arrived at MAA training on Saturday and started class on Monday.  I have only spoke to him a couple of times since he arrived but as of today he says he is very bored.  I hope things pick-up for him because all that time on his hands will drive him crazy.

Hi Wefixit - What an exciting time. My son's PIR was on 8/2 and he is in MAA training right now.  He completes it on 9/27. He is enjoying his MAA training and it is nice to be in touch with him again.  Enjoy your time with your Sailor!
