They dont tell you why leave is denied. so just have to wait for the next time
Hi everyone, haven't been on here for awhile, mostly been lurking in the JApan group as that's where my son was for awhile earler this year. Right now he is in NJ waiting to start his job as a recruiter. I remember when he left for Boot camp. I didn't have the PIR group as N4M's wasn't in existence yet. My son PI'd 10/21/06. When he left for boot camp, we were with him at the swearing in place, he originally was in a buddy program but at the last minute he had to change everything as his friend didn't make weight.. He had the option to go on alone or wait a few more weeks. He choose to go on with out his buddy so he could get the job he wanted.. That was 5 yrs ago. We were able to see him at the airport before he left.. unfortunately i had to leave before he left. He left from Albany airport as we are from Schenectady. His Pir was awesome. I took the train from Schdy to Chicago Illinois.. It was a 15 hr + trip. My hubby, youngest son and older son's g/f now wife flew out the next morning. They picked me up from the train station. We stayed at the NAvy Lodge.
Its great that you have the pir group all set up. I wish I had that.. it would have been nice to have some support while RJ was in Boot camp. But Now I belong to 27 groups, all revolving around crafts, and some of the states where my cyber friends live, states where I visit from time to time and the state where my son is now stationed, as well as the Japan group. You will meet alot of moms on this site. There aren't alot of moms where I live.. so I "hang " out with my " fellow cyber Moms" I hope you are doing well Boot camp is an exctitng time.. much harder for us than them.. they are too busy to have time to be sad.. but I bet they wish we could be there to share their accomplishments.. That's why letter writing is so important. I used to have the letters my son sent me from boot camp but they got lost when my youngest son and my seabee's wife decided to clean house for us. But that's a whole new chapter.
Any how. write lots of letters, tell them about your day. This is especially important whe they finish their schooling and get deployed into parts unknown. And when they get stationed somewhere, join the group for the location or ship they on. I could go on.. but I think you get the ideas.
Well I hope everyone has a great day... take care
If you are looking for things to occupy yourselfwith and you happen to sew, we have a great "Pillowcase" group where we send pillowcases to the troops. or there is" Molly's Adopt a sailor "where we adopt a ship as a group and send pakgs to them. that group also makes pillowcases as well.. In fact we just won a grant to purchase material to make pillowcases for our "Special Hugs" project. Anyhow there's alot of groups , there is probably one that meets your interests.
Angie, it's great that you keep up with some of the mom's in the PIR group. I hope you enjoy your trip...
Just wanted to stop by and say hi....We've been dormant here for a while. I got the box, the form letter and then A CALL !!!! He needed some info for security clearance but we got to speak for about 10 mins. He sounded wonderful. Perfectly normal. The only thing he said is that the RDCs yell louder than me....LOL.
I'm booking my flight today for PIR and then the hotel. Today is day 14 that he's gone and it seems like a lifetime.
Have a great day all and I hope everyone is getting their letters and calls and that things are all good.
hi invisible: well by now your son is being broken in at boot camp. how are you surviving this first week? I live in the fresh meadows area. try to get on a boot camp site there is alot of information. Also once you know his division there will be a site for that as well. There you can talk to moms who have sailor recruits in the same group. If you can, try to plan to attend graduation. It is a really great experience
