Sandy - I don't know how you made it through.  I WOULD'VE DIED!!!!  I'm sure you were just sick over it.  Thank God everything worked out.  Where is she now?

Thanks Sandy and Angie.  It's very hard and I know that once he leaves my focus will be on PIR.  As long as I keep having something to look forward to it makes it easier to deal with.  My poor husband is afraid I'm going to have a nervous breakdown!

Invisible  hang on for the ride of your life but yes what amazing sailor you will meet on his PIR date.  My son PIR'd 3-18-2011 and is now at Ft Meade Maryland and Ive never seen him happier.   Bootcamp is the longest 8 weeks but realize it is much harder on us than on them    Sandy is absolutely correct, you need that PIR group   I still talk daily with some of the moms from my group.  In fact Im going to Chicago to visit one of them in October

Sandy - yes my son is leaving for BC.  It's so crazy the range of emotions that go along with this whole journey.  You're so happy and proud of your child but sooooo very sad that they're leaving.  He's been a depper for so long and now it's only 2 weeks away.  My world is going to come crashing down when I say goodbye on Sept. 15th.

I live on Long Island and some of us are still out of power.  I thankfully am not one of them.  My power was out for 12 hrs.  No floods but plenty of down trees.  My countdown is on - my son leaves in 2 weeks! I'm crying.

Judy: Bet you get mail this week. Use to come for us on Wednesday or Thursday. Probably will get a bunch in one day. Then they will come regular over the next few weeks.

We are heading up to Albany this week to take my middle son to college. I will now have only one left at home. He cant wait to be an only child but I think he will miss his brother just like he misses the one in the navy

Sandy, I am from Cape Vincent ( about 20 min. from Watertown). To my knowledge, I don't think that there are any Moms on here from my neck of the woods either,

It has been just about a year since my son left for BC. I remember the anxious waiting for phone calls & letters. I hated it! Now he is in Guam & this moms umbilical cord is stretched to the max!!  He just turned 19 in July & he is my oldest, so it has taken some getting used to. Thank God for SKYPE, facebook, & cell phones.

Good luck to all of you moms & your sailors who are in BC & A school!
