Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Invisible: blue star means active duty in the military. You can get a free blue star flag for your window, try to google blue star flags. Chris is in 11/2 years. we didnt have a party just went visiting to say good bye. just not in a financial postition to throw a big party

Hello Navy Moms, I'm new here, living on L.I., NY.My daughter is deployed, 4 months to go & my son-in -law is also in the Navy.Looking forward to the Blue Star meet n greet this saturday in W. Islip.It will be nice to meet other moms that are local, as it is has been nice to have found this site. I would love to hear from anyone going through there childs 1st deployment.Hope all is well with everyone!

Joyce....that's great that your son is happy and wants to extend his contract.  In a weird way - I hope my son does too.  How long has he been in?

 

sboli....my son signed for IT which was what we all wanted.  I was so relieved about that.  He signed for 4 yrs and 2 reserve (at least I think that what he signed for).

 

Did either one of you throw a party?  Mine is planned for Sept. 10th and I was wondering if you had any ideas.

invisible: im originally from LI and have lived in queens for 30 years now. My son has recently told me he is thinking of extending his contract for an additional 2 years and then see if he wants to reenlist for another four after that,We keep encouraging him to stay in the navy for the security and benefits especially the way the job market is today. He is getting married in sept 2013 so his gf is not to happy about the reenlistment idea but he keeps talking about it and i think she will realize and come around
