Labmom: my son was in college for 3 years with only enough credits for  1. He told us College was just not his thing. We said he had to have  a trade or join the military. He chose the navy and is 11/2 years in. He loves it. Did more studying in the navy then he ever did in school. Amazing how they change and grow up. Im such a proud mom.

My son failed his urine test. They found protein and red blood cells in his urine. So we have to wait for other tests to come back from the kidney specialist. He is so upset as we are. I sure hope it is nothing. He really need this. He wants to be in the Navel Reserves so bad.

Hi All hope everyone had a Happy Memorial Day. How are all your Sailors doing. My soon to be Sailor worked Fleet Week in Manhattan. He had a great time.

Happy memorial day all. This site has gotten quiet again. Headed to a parade. Enjoy the day all. My son is marching in Virginia today. Wish I could see that parade.

Thanks Angie and Congrats to your son!!! I strongly agree. It's wonderful when our kids are happy when making major decisions. My daughter had also thought about CTT and CTR rate.

Thanks so much sboli1! I've heard the same thing happen to several people. So I'm hoping for the best. But either way, my daughter agrees. She will still be gaining a good skill if she remains with "IC".

Congrats to your son!!! That is so awesome. I can only imagine how excited and happy he felt when they notified him. I hope the same for my daughter :o)

Awesome Wanda. My son did the same signed but noted what he really wanted and got called to come down and sign his new contract. Probably the 1st I've seen his that excited. Good luck to you and your Depper!!

Hi Everyone! My daughter went to MEPS today for the 2nd time this month to select her rating. She did select a rate. It wasn't what she wanted but she did not want to wait until next month to try again. She wants to join the NAVY asap! So she selected "IC" (Interior Communications Electrician). We don't know too much about "IC",so we have been doing some reading on the duties. She did state on her paperwork that if "IS" or "OS" comes up she wants to switch her rate. So as it stands she will be shipping to boot camp Sept. 21. She is excited because she swore in, signed her contract and best of all, she has a ship out date! Besides who knows what can happen now till Sept. So my girl is officially a "Depper". She was also excited about ringing the bell at MEPS after she swore in and signed the contract :o) I am very proud and excited for her.
