Hi All, that was the fastest 10 days ever. :( My boy has left for VA. I was so happy to see the changes in him and glad that he expressed how happy he is but I sure do miss him and he has only been gone a few hours.

Sboli1, I think there is some truth to that according to the information I've been receiving from the recruiter.

Joyce, we did see an article that the Navy put out to the recruiters showing what ratings were overmanned and what ratings are undermanned. I know MC was at 92%. I didn't look at CTT bc my daughter wasn't thinking about that at the time. The recruiter was suggesting to considered to secret intelligence ratings bc they are always in demand. So we shall see when the time comes :o)

My sons recruiter told him the beginning of the month was the best to choose.
Not sure if its true.

wanda: when my son first enlisted they told him the Navy was at 110 percent capacity. He didnt leave or get to select job for 6 months. So, I think there are alvays issues and it never goes as smooth as you think it will

Well found out today from the recruiter that the NAVY does not have any jobs for females this week :o( The recruiter is hoping my daughter gets to go to MEPS next week to select her rating. Our office location only has 1 slot open for a female this month to fulfill their quota and my daughter was given that slot :o) The saga continues...

Sboli1, she has not returned to MEPS yet to select her rate. She is supposed to go this week. We're supposed to get a confirmation from her recruiter today regarding what day she is supposed to go. I will definitely keep everyone informed. At present she is torn between MC (Mass Communications) and CTT (Cryptologic Technician Technical)

Hi sboli1, Joyce and Cat - sorry it took so long to answer. I'm still learning to navigate around this site. LOL. My son is 22 and yes I wouldn't miss graduation for anything in the world!  Even though he doesn't leave until September for bootcamp, I've  been on this site for months already.  There's so much to learn, sometimes its overwhelming.  I'm glad to see there are more NYers here.  I have my days where I'm not so sad about him leaving, and there are days when I can't bear to think about it.

P.S. OSAMA IS DEAD!!!!!!!
