suzanne welcome. I grew up on LI and live in Queens. My son Chris is in Mississippi in C school. He left for BC 2/24/10. It has been an exciting year. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Will you get to go to the graduation? You should if possible. Not seeing them for 9 weeks feels like eternity when they first go

Hi, my name is Rhonda & we live in Cape Vincent (Jefferson Co.), NY, in the 1000 Islands. My son recently PIR'd on 10/15 & is currently waiting to class up @ A school @ Great Lakes for Corpsman. This whole Navy thing has been quite an experience for me, sending my first born off only 2 months after he graduated from high school. Looking forward to chatting w/all the NY Moms out there.

I think getting the BOX was the hardest thing for me. So I know how you feel mari112. I was ok at first taking his things out the box until I found a letter he wrote to me and his Dad ....boy talk about losing it I cried like I never did and my husband had to read it for me cause I just couldn't finish it then he went outside cause he didn't want me to see that the letter got to him also. I have that letter on my fridge. I now enjoy reading it. Wishing you the best and your sailor too :)

My son just left Oct. 25th. I spoke to him the day he got there for like 30 seconds and that was it. I got his box last night when I got home from work on Friday.
