My son said there was a possibility that a family member could travel on the aircraft carrier from Hawaii to California (at the end of deployment). He didn't know if this opportunity was limited to…Continue

Yes! Though he has been on the road 180 days in the first year. Fallon seems to be more of "part-time" residence than we realized. In fact, his birthday is Thursday & I'm hoping he'll be home long enough to get his packages.
What platform is your Ds on, Patty?
Depending on what version of the E2 will determine where they end up. Some of the E2 training is in Norfolk and some is elsewhere. My NFO is currently in E2 in Norfolk but will be moving to CA for continuation of his training.
Yes, the E2 (E2C or E2D in the newest version) is the designation.for the Hawkeye. The unofficial motto is "You can run, but you can't hide) because their equipment is amazing. Or, at least the unclassified stuff is.
I thought all the E2 final training was in Norfolk, but the Navy changes things around so much that I don't even try to keep up. Winging will be amazing!
I mis-spoke when I said my kid was in Jacksonville. I had been texting back and forth with a friend there and had that on the brain. He is in Pensacola. He just got his assignment, he will be on the E2 (Is that the Hawkeye, I think?). Winging will be end of June, maybe. We are no longer in St. Charles. We are now in Texas. But good friends with an NFO are still there. She may be in about the same class as yours, Marianne. She just did 3 years in Japan also. Went back to Whidbey Island and is now headed to Itally.
Welcome 1after909!
I'm in Wilmette and would love getting together with other area moms in the spring. I teach high school on the NW side of Chicago. Geneva & St. Charles are great fun, so perhaps we can meet out that way.
JediGrey, are you still in the area?
My DS is on Hawkeyes. After winging, he did 3 yrs. in Japan and just finished his first year as an instructor at "Top Gun".
It's always an adventure!
Hello JediGrey!
Yes, we are in Geneva.
Hello,
My son received his commission in October, 2014 in RI. He is currently in Jacksonville. I live in the far west suburbs of Chicago. I am eager to meet other moms!
