For up-to-date information regarding off-limits establishments, go to cnic.navy.mil/regions/cnrma.html and click on "Off-Limits List" under "Popular Links" in the right-hand column.

NORFOLK, Va. December 5, 2014 — The Déjà Vu Restaurant and Lounge in Newport News has been placed off-limits to all Navy personnel.

On Friday, Déjà Vu, located at 6128 Jefferson Avenue, was put off-limits by Rear Adm. Rick Williamson due to recent events at or around the restaurant, including a shooting incident on Tuesday in the parking lot.  According to officials, one of the five injured victims was a Sailor. Police also say there have been 275 police calls regarding incidents in or around Déjà Vu since Jan. 1.

The off-limits list now reads as follows:

  • Déjà Vu Restaurant and Lounge, 6128 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, Va.
  • Unwind Hookah Lounge, 731 J Clyde Morris Blvd., Ste B, Newport News, Va.
  • Unwind Hookah Lounge, 839 W. 21st Street, Norfolk, Va.
  • The Vault, 86 W. Mercury Blvd., Hampton, Va.
  • The Vault, 15435-B Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Va.
  • The Vault, 4796 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes, Va.
  • Mellow Smoke Tobacco Shop, 1948 Diamond Springs Road, Virginia Beach, Va.
  • Outer Edge Gifts, 760-B J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, Va.
  • Blazin Herbs, 85 W Mercury Blvd., Hampton, Va
  • Envy Car Audio and Design, 117 E. Princess Anne Rd, Norfolk Va.
  • The board recommended that Envy Car Audio and Design be banned to military personnel after it learned that the establishment is not registered in the state of Virginia and for violations of the Virginia Consumer Protection Act and Automobile Repair Facilities Act, the statement said.
  • Several smoke shops were previously on the ban, but have recently changed names, according to the Navy statement.

"All Lazy Dayz store names have changed to 'Unwind Hookah Lounge' and all Hampton Pipe and Tobacco stores have been renamed 'The Vault,' " the statement said. "Although the names of the establishments have changed, all locations remain on the off-limits list. Both these establishments were put off-limits following reports of the sale of synthetic cannabinoids or spice."

The Joint Armed Forces Disciplinary Control Board for southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina is an investigative committee composed of members from each military service and civilian advisers, who work with local law enforcement agencies and local businesses to identify conditions which may adversely affect the health, safety, welfare and discipline of the armed forces.

It works with the businesses before they are placed off-limits to avoid these actions, the statement said. Corrective action and communication with the board on the part of businesses often result in removal from the list.

Thanks for the update Marcy!

You're welcome!  Used-car dealers are some of the businesses that show up periodically so it's always a good link to check.

Good to know stuff!!
Thanks Marcy!!
