OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I'm a new Navy wife and I have just moved to Norfolk, I don't know many people here yet and was wondering if there was any other new Navy wives here or if there was any wives that could give any tips or advice about Norfolk or being a Military wife!  I also wanted to help out and volunteer with the military but I am not sure how to go about that, I thought it be a good way to help out and meet other wives.

thank you!

Maybe connect with a Blue Star Mother's group in your area. You cant be a member because your not a mom but you can be an associate. Or maybe the FRG.

Thank you!

Several of my friends have volunteered with the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society and they found it to be a great way to meet people and give back :)

thank you :) ill look into that!

Even though the name of my group is Navy Moms of Norfolk on facebook I have several Navy wife's on board also.  Come on over and join us.  Just watch your Other message folder for some simple questions.  As I dont know your real name just be sure you say that you were invited by me here on N4M.

I am new to Norfolk also. I have 2 small daughters an we need some friends!

Try to find Cassidy from the pensacola group. Who doesn't have kids yet but She loves kids, she hosted a sleep over for her friends kids not long ago, ages 2-8 what a hoot.

She just moved to Norfolk, she is trying to find on base housing right now. Her husband is Jazz.

The Fleet and Family Support Center has a volunteer coordinator who can connect you with volunteering opportunities in the area. Call 757-444-2102 to get more info. I have lots of volunteer hours with Navy Marine Corps Relief Society...Great organization and the taught me tons about the Navy. You can't go wrong with either organization. There is also the USO at the airport. If you want to connect with other wives, contact Compass, they coordinate a mentorship program for military spouses. The FFSC can give you the numbers for all of these groups.  Welcome to Norfolk!
