Hello.....I am trying to find out if my son can take his car  on base in Norfolk Va  if it is registered to his dad....Title is in my son's name but registered to my husband because insurance is much cheaper .....plan on getting his own insurance when he turns 21.....i read on here that all we need is a notarized letter giving him permission to drive the car...but  not sure if that is true for Norfolk VA base or not?? any help would be appreciated we plan on driving the car down to him next week .....thanks

*Navy Lodge would be first pick for the price and in-room amenities*

I would call them b/c what I've been told is they work with families for ship's homecomings as they know the sailors are not there to check in their family members. As I said, if you call them at the Navy Lodge they are super nice!!

Can you stay at the Navy lodge if you are going for homecoming? I heard your sailor has to check you in, so wouldn't that be impossible if their ship isn't back yet? I have no idea how that works but that's where I was considering saying when my boyfriend gets home!

Check the Navy Lodge!! The rate is reasonable and the room is clean with a kitchette. The rate is $79 a night and there is no tax or other fees to pay. They have a few suites also that are great. It's just outside the gates to the base. The folks are wonderful there! You can make your reseveration and your sailor can check you in the day of your arrival before you get there or if they are working can stop by the next day.

Our first night we stayed here:

Wasn't fancy, but the rate was great, the room was clean and they offer free transport to/ from the airport and breakfast buffet. Also has a pool and an exercise room. It was convenient to everything. (Just do not get a connecting room, in case the neighbors are as noisy as ours were- I think they had everybody from baby to grandma in the room but hubs slept thru it). Just about everywhere you will need a car to get around. Have a safe trip!
