Hi Proud Navy Mom of 2 Sailors- Love your Profile foto what an adorable Beagle he reminds me of one I used to have a long time ago.Nope as far as what I have heard just Taxi that cost anywhere from 40 to 50 dollars a total rip off to Sailors and I dont think the airport is that far but they should have something like that a shuttle for them. Usually if possible they share a taxi but that doesnt always work or like Kim says they get rides if they can or know someone who has a car.

I don't think so. My son always seems to get a ride or give a ride whenever someone it's coming or going. But, I don't know for sure.

Does anyone know if there is a shuttle for the sailors between the airport and the base?

My DIL is moving back home while my son is deployed.  I think it is a good thing.  She will be within minutes of her mom, Dad  and brother and only 1 1/2 hrs from us.

She is lucky her company has stores both places and have been very nice about letting her transfer back and forth.  We will all worry less if she is here.

i decided to stay bc making a home here for hubby to come back to was important to me. and you def would get more support here being around ppl going through the same thing. just my opinion.

Yeah, I have a full time job that I love, I'm on the Exec Board for the FRG, and I've made a ton of friends, so I have no reason to go home during deployment. But one of the other girls on the Exec Board just stepped down to move back home for deployment. Not all wives go back to their parents for deployment, but it's not uncommon either.

Then it's probably to be closer to family and to have a support system. Going through deployment as a spouse is just down right God awful because you're without your best friend, confidant, and (not be mushy) love of your life for 3-6 months. It's hard enough to deal when you have friends around to keep your mind off of things. It's just flat out depressing if you're by yourself. Lots of wives either move back home or go home for an extended period when their husbands deploy just so they can be around family.

I sure hope you're right Jess, because her not so brave face turned into a how soon can I Ieave face.   They are newly married, but not young or pregnant.   Home in this case doesn't involve not paying rent and utilities, so saving money isn't likely.
