He'll get it worked out once he gets some sleep and has time to ask around the ship for help. thanks again!

I'll pass our info on to him and he can check with his command tomorrow. Thanks for your input! He's hanging out over at the rec center right now, free wifi and TV, etc. He said he was going to go back to ship after eating and hit the rack since he's so tired. :)

Matt just came back from a 5 month deployment April 1st and then came home for leave. He flew back to Norfolk late yesterday. The supply chief that supposedly send his barracks request packet just went on 2nd leave, so he won't see him for 2 weeks. He doesn't know yet if someone else can help him on the ship. I told him I'll call his CO if he doesn't start asking some questions about how to get into the barracks. So he went to the barracks and they told him he has to get on the waiting list. He's an E-4. Can he live off base or is he stuck on the ship?

I did drive his car to Norfolk before homecoming so he at least has a car. But he doesn't know he way around yet. He called me when he flew in to Norfolk last night and I gave him the directions to his ship. He can tough it out on the ship for awhile till he figures out what's going on. I know he's tired, he didn't get to his ship till about 1:30am this morning and then had to work today. Well, he calls it work, you and I would call it something else....lol

Let's give Matt a few days and see what happens....I'll let him know about your son. You may be Matt's lifesaver....lol

I know a lot about ships. I love them.

Yes, he needs a place to crash and he can pay. He's thinking of staying at the Navy Lodge!

Naval Station Norfolk occupies about 4,300 acres of Hampton Roads real estate in a peninsula known as Sewells Point. It is the world's largest Naval Station; in fact, based on supported military population, it is the largest naval installation in the world. When the 75 ships and 134 aircraft homeported here are not at sea, they are along side one of the 13 piers or inside one of the 11 aircraft hangars for repair, refit, training and to provide the ship's or squadron's crew an opportunity to be with their families. Naval Station is homeport to aircraft carriers, cruisers, destroyers, large amphibious ships, submarines, a variety of supply and logistics ships, C-2, C-9, C-12 and E-2 fixed wing aircraft,
and H-3,H-46, H-53, and H-60 helicopters.

Port Services controls more than 3,100 ships' movements annually as they arrive and depart their berths. Port facilities extend more than four miles along the waterfront and include some seven miles of pier and wharf space.

Air Operations conducts over 100,000 flight operations each year, an average of 275 flights per day or one every six minutes. Over 150,000 passengers and 264,000 tons of mail and cargo depart annually on Air Mobility Command (AMC) aircraft and other chartered flights from our airfield. It is the hub for Navy logistics going to the European and Central Command theaters of operations, and to the Caribbean.

Naval Station's Nimitz Hall is a major stopping-off point for people destined for ships, aircraft squadrons, and stations overseas. Nearly 9,000 people are processed through the Transient Personnel Unit annually en route to their destinations.

You better love me, we may we spending A LOT of time together. Now I need some help......Sailor son just came back from deployment and tried to check into the barracks. He was told they have no paperwork in his name. He met with some supply guy on his ship during deployment and filled the the necessary packet. Now what is my Sailor supposed to do besides sleep on the ship. Does he have any priority being an E-4? When can he live off base and get an allowance?
There, now you can't call me Know It All anymore! lol, lol !!!
