No it's not you Teri, I'm being dense......I thought you were buying a ticket for your son! Anyway, IF you ever make a reservation for your son, call the airline and request the military fare.

Teri:
Did you call the airline to make the original reservation? They won't be of any help unless the reservation was made by phone directly to the airline and you requested the military fare. :(

I did the same thing as Donna, everytime Matt and I went to the NEX, I paid with cash. There were no questions asked.

Here's my 2 cents on airfare:

If you call the airline DIRECT and ask for a military fare, it's a little bit cheaper. The benefit is IF you have to change your ticket, there is no charge. (I have done this with Delta) And there is no charge for your Sailors luggage and that applies to ALL airlines.

If you buy a 'discount' ticket online and you need to make changes, it's about $100 per change. (I did this for PIR using Expedia and American Airlines)

The 'fully refundable' fare is the most expense. BUT you can change it as many times as you want. For me, the refundable fare from Tucson to O'Hare was almost $800. I found a $240 R/T fare on Expedia. Even if I had to make a change, the price then would have been $340 R/T.

Teri i am sorry that you are having such a hard time. the airlines just want your money and no compassion for navy moms, wife, or who ever
