OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Kathryn: I talked to Joyce for a long time last after after her son called to say goodbye. It is difficult to say goodbye when you know they'll be gone for such a long time. Both of you are in my thoughts and prayers...

Darla: What ship is your son on? I'm going back for my son's homecoming. Matt's on the Ramage and it WAS assigned to the Iwo Jima Strike Group but Matt mentioned they were no longer with the Iwo Jima.

K- that's exactly what I do. Matt loves the $5 DVD's from WalMart and all the guys on his ship share DVD's and CD's.

Darla: If you're sending Nate books, do you know that it's cheaper to use the "media" rate at the post office than the flat rate? :)
The package has to contain ALL media....and that can mean magazines, books, DVD, CD's....etc.
