For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In the event of an emergency within the sailor’s family, where you feel the sailor must be notified and considered for Emergency Leave, you must notify the American Red Cross through the national headquarters in Washington, DC (1-877-272-7337) or via their website www.redcross.org.

Jacqie: Let me send you my hubby. He's managed to kill every tree I've ever planted and others that I didn't even plant! He always sprays the weed killer to close to the trees...
Will you have to remove all of your trees? I only have 1 tree left in my backyard. If it dies, hubby better start running....lol
Send some more pics....the high here was 80 and everything is budding. So hard to believe you all are having such nasty weather.

Tracy I know there are other Moms on here with kids stationed on the USS Wasp. Up in the far right hand corner you'll find the 'search' button. Just enter 'USS Wasp' and all the discussions about the Wasp will come up, including this one!

Jacque: I was talking about you yesterday afternoon! My brother lives in Nashville and I asked if they had any of the ice storms. (they didn't). Glad you got the power back on! You need to have a doctor check your poor ear......hope the doctor's office gets power soon. Take care of yourself. :)

Your son will have a pretty good idea of when he should be arriving. And he will know if he's getting 2 weeks leave as soon as his ship comes in or if he has to wait 2 weeks before he can take his leave. Ask him about it. What ship is your son on?

I'm a professional Navy researcher......lol
I've never to been to Norfolk, but I driving over in March. Sailor son will be coming back from a long deployment. I'm staying at the Springhill Suites, about 4 miles from the base.
Someone else will jump on here and tell which Navy Lodge to stay at. If I were staying at the Navy Lodge, I pick the one in Norfolk.

this must be a stage that all of our children go thru kyle had been in the navy just over a year and it seems like every time he calls home he is either going to buy something new or someone made him mad at school or the officers are being to hard on him. in a lot of ways all of our kids are a like he ran around with a bunch of boys or young men that don't do nothing but drink and don't have a good job and i just keep encouraging him look what he has accomplished so far in his life. all we can do is pray and give each other support. hang in there ladies we can do this, but the funny part is they don't think about how much we miss them. in a years time my son has made 3rd class petty officer which is great.
