Hey Willette: I worked on the other side of the fence for years. Worked in the courtroom sitting with all those lovely defendants. Blessings to you for being so brave. You certainly have my respect. And you NEVER have to say "Kleenex Alert". I hereby order you exempt!!! lol

Kathryn:
I love it! I've never heard them before. I WILL tell the Marines that when I go begging for my mug, lol.
Yep, my hubby is former Army....

Willette: I've told many stories on here and there are times I don't think anything of the stories, but the Mom reading them will burst out crying. It's no biggie about the Kleenex alert. Most of the time I forget about it. (but then again, I forget about a lot of things) :)
Just have fun in here and RELAX...... hugs to you!

Ruth:
I have 2 nephews that are Marines; 3 neices and nephews that are Sailors and of course, Sailor son. They are all very respectful of each other and I haven't heard any ribbing, yet. I think since they're all cousins, they stick together.
But of course I will tell the Marine recruiters they couldn't go anywhere without the Navy! My son is a part of the Iwo Jima Strike Group and they are loaded with Marines!
Love your mugs, you are making me jealous....lol

I bought the Navy one; the Marine one is free, but we aware you'll have to put up with Marines ribbing you about having a swabby. They might tell you that sailors aren't ready to be real men. I always remind them that they couldn't get anywhere without the Navy. There's good hearted teasing once you get to know them.

Let's go hunt some down, ladies!

The Navy has plastic thermo mugs, but the Marines have really nice red "metallic" ones with stainless steel like you have to buy from the NEX for $9. They're a bit smaller than the purchased Navy ones, but they're really nice.

Our Zone Supervisor had asked if I would give a speech to Deppers and their parents in November. Not being the least bit shy, I jumped at the idea. And now guess who has unindated me with Navy gear? I just love it. We have 8 of the dark blue plastic mugs; sunglasses; langyards; key chains; I.D. pullouts; Navy writing pens; cool beverage holders or in this house, beer holders; all the different styles of Navy label pins, etc. Matt has even requested some of this stuff in his packages! lol
But the Marine mugs sound awesome. Maybe I'll have to stop by and do a little begging, after all they did try and recruit Matt.
I for one do not have to vote for Boo. I've already adopted him and his Mom can attest to that! If it wasn't for his Mom that boy wouldn't have made it to Italy.....lol right Tina?
Let's keep Boo down here where he's close to our hearts. He doesn't want to be seperated up there with a different discussion thread. He IS making this thread all the more interesting.

I am sitting here drinking coffee out of my favorite NAVY cup, wearing a NAVY t, and on my way out the door to exercise. I, too, love/own all things NAVY! My son is finally old enough that he "gets" it. Now if I happen to be on a base, he says to me, "I'll take you to the NEX; is an hour long enough?" I always prepare with a wad of cash so he can pay for my treasurers. The coffee cup came from our recruiter though--when I show up, he tells me to go "shopping" in the back room! The blue acrylic cups are the best! (The Marines have the best thermo mugs free at the recruiters though they are reluctant to part with them--can't have enough Marine friends so I made some!) I also have a "personal shopper" in San Diego, the wife of a sailor. I send her a check and she goes to the NEX for me. All this will be easier when my son is an instructor at GL. I'll be able to shop more often!

We just returned from San Diego and while we where there, took a tour of the USS Midway. Do you know how many times I interjected in the conversation "Oh, did I tell you I have a son serving on a destroyer in the Gulf?" lol

If Boo has another day and is interested, he can take the train to see Pompeii. It's not a long trip or expensive. I've been several times and it's better each time. When my son was in Naples, they had to stay with their shore buddies--his wanted to do nothing more than sit in a bar. He was so disappointed.
