@Judy ...we are here. Don't hesitate to call for any reason. glad Jesse was able to hook up with others. My son had the same experience and I think it helped. He had a nice bond with the gal that stayed at the same hotel. I had the chance to speak with her at PIR and so told me things my son would not tell me. It was nice to hear how supportive he was to others even though he was struggling like everyone else.
@ Nevada... yes I did see that movie and cried. The end was a bit cheesy but the story was sweet. Hope you are able to get that pup dog soon.
@Linda...I picked up a pastry at Mirbelle on Sat. It came in a mini pie box. I can save it for you in the event you need another.
My husband briefly spoke to our son Saturday night just to let him know that he had arrived and checked into his hotel. I understand from some other moms of his classmates that he was at a dinner with about 20 of them. Thanks, again, to my new friends who have really helped me through this anxious time.
I love reading about your times - I miss all of you. Work you know, had snow in Downieville and Sierra City. Beautiful drive.
Did anyone see the movie with Betty White on CBS last night? Her husband was a Navy piolet in WWII. Very touching. Just what I needed.
All is well with our sailor and his family - they have a new puppy. We are looking for a West Highland Terrier, Schnauzer - or a mix. There is a little guy through Chows Rescue - Mutters he is having hip surgery tomorrow. We just aren't in the spot to be able to afford the adoption fee ($200). It is worth it for all that they do for the dogs, we just aren't there at this time.
Anyway, glad to hear that you are keeping up the traditions - LOUD, LAUGHTER, and love those sailors :-}
