Linda , she will be "on hold" in GL working in the supply room until she gets orders for C school. FCs have alot of training that is why she had to sign on for six years. More Hurry up and wait, I'm used to it. Lol! Still proud of every step she takes.

Good morning, Congrats Susan. Paula, I'm glad you are the mend. Tee-1 and Linda, congrats to your sailors. My sailor Chrissy will be getting her A school certificate today, wish I could be there but she promised to post pics on FB.

Paula, I slipped in a parking lot twisting my right knee. So I hobbled around favoring it and managed to strain the left. Did an MIR in Dec '06. Doctor wanted repair the menicus right then and there. Got ONE cortisone shot. Decided to wait until after my son's OCS graduation in Mar '07 babying that right knee, avoiding activities. Flight to and from Pensacola changes planes in Dallas. Anyone ever been to DFW airport? It's humongous. We had to walk from one side of the terminal to the furthest point on the other (carts were all taken). We get settled in for a delayed flight. All of the sudden, an announcement comes over the PA that we will be boarding sooner than later but back next to the terminal at the opposite end (where we had originally started). We ran, got on the plane only to wait for our luggage to catch up. So I hobbled for miles and I am stuck on the plane for an extra two hours. I thought I was going to be a cripple and would need more than menicus repair. Inexplicably my knee actually felt BETTER when we finally got back to SFO. Paula, I still haven't had that surgery yet. Go figure.

WOW - hi everybody - welcome to our new faces. Now, for my big news and apology. As some of you may remember I was laid off almost a year ago. AT the urging of some very special folks I took a lay ministry training through my church. Last week, we officially received our certificates from the Bishop at our Annual Conference Sessions. I was also blessed to receive a $500 scholarship to help with the costs of this training. Well to make this long story short I preached on Father's Day at North San Juan, Downieville and Sierra City. I'm in the midst of following this calling and blessed with so very many awesome folks along the way.
Please know that I continue to hold each of you and your sailor's in my continued prayers. I try to get here often - but don't do as much as I had hoped. I am very sorry to miss the M&G's because they are so important and powerful - these connections are very important.
The retreat sounds AWESOME - thank you both for doing this BunkerBee and QuiltLady. What an amazing gift. I will be holding all of you in my prayers. My angel blessings, Susan
P.S. I'm gone pretty much all of July until some time in late August - I'll try to get on here at least once a week.

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THE MEET AND GREET AT TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE AT THE Bachelor Officer’s Quarters (BOQ). QUILTLADY HAS RESERVED AT 2 BEDROOM SUITE FOR US.

Date: July 17, 2010
Time: 3:00 PM to ??
Who can attend: Young wives, fiancees and girlfriends of sailor who have started bootcamp already.
Food: Quiltlady and I will supply all the food and drinks. Come anytime after 3:00 PM. We'll order pizza for dinner.
Activities: Talk all date and all night. Evening – movie or bowling. There is a pool across the street.
Purpose of Retreat: This gathering is an opportunity for the young "significant others" of our sailors to meet each other, find others in Northern California. This is a new event we have been thinking of doing because concerns of young wives/fiancees/gfs are different than moms.
Organizers/Hostesses: Quiltlady and I will be the on moms with sailor. Quiltlady has been married for over 30 years and I have been married for 29 years. We are still happily married and we are here to help and support you.
Overnight Guests: The 2 bedroom suite will 5 comfortably. Guests coming from the furthest distance will have priority - I_love_thomas (from Redding), SMSantens (Monterey), Proud Navy Wife (Santa Rosa). Quiltlady's husband was enlisted and officer in the Navy - reservation will be in her name. WE WILL PICK UP THE TAB FOR THE 2 BEDROOM SUITE. Just come and enjoy yourself.

MORE INFO TO COME. I WILL INPUT THE EVENT ON N4M TONIGHT.
PLEASE LET OTHER KNOW WHO ARE NOT MEMBERS OF N4M.

NOTE: We would recommend getting a babysitter if you have children. All our other meet and greets are open to all family members of the sailor. Perhaps if there is enough interest, we'll do picnic for kids next year.

Hi Linda, he's in Aircrew (AWO) but went sp ops first and that didn't work out so he's spent a lot of time doing "hurry up and wait."

Good Morning NorCal peeps. It's finally summer, 95 here today. Update on my sailor, he starts A school for Aircrew this week. Yeah! It's also his first anniversary in the Navy.

If you go to my page you will see the quilt I just finished. It is a quilt that my son will presnet to his captain tomorrow.

The image is my interpretation of LPD 20, the USS Green Bay. I wanted make something that would stay with the ship and bare our name as donors.

This only took me about 2 months to put together.

Thanks for letting me share.
