Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Good morning Everyone! My son is still in Great lakes finnishing up his "C" or is it "Sea" school? As Electricians mate. He is heading over to Norfolk,VA next month. He was very excited to let us know he landed on his dream ship. The CG61 USS Monterey. I guess being on a guided missle cruiser is something. You can look these ships up online. It has information on thme and some very nice pictures. I'll go back and get the link. In any case I just googled USS Monterey and it came up. It made me feel better about Mike being so far from home after I saw and read information The Monterey. Mike has already heard from his liason on the Monterey and been welcomed. I don't know if their are these liasons for all the naval vessals, but it seems to make the transition easier.

Good Morning" YEA SUNSHINE - snow expected next week (again). Hopefully it will start to be at the higher elevations. The lower levels makes it too cold to get out in the yard. I'm headed there today - I hope. Have BSM (Blue Star Moms) @ 10; and little league game at noon
Got a package from our sailor - his family is SO wonderful. They sent a junior set of the new navy camos for Owen (g-son - 10). He is so stoked. Boys do get excitted over clothes. Wanted to wear the had and shirt/jacket to school the next day. They were smart and bought a size too big for him. We think it was an anniversary package.
Welcome back BHappy! Our sailor was thinking of a job in Japan. There is a moms group for Japan. Very glad that you are here - please share with us the adventures.
LuAnn - whew - whew - for the vidoe's. THANK YOU. For those of whose sailor's don't share this is an AMAZING gift. THANK YOU for your thoughtfulness. Helps us to recognize and realize what our awesome sailors are doing.
Paymaster - I'm working on the votes - and trying to recruit others. Will this work whereever? Maybe other mom's in other states can vote?
Ok, I have to run and get the laudnry going. Have a great spring day. ~s

LuAnn, the videos were approved and they are here ALREADY. Go back two pages - you'll see them. They are on the SF Bay site too. They are also on the Officer Moms and the Sub Moms as well. No need to do anything. Everybody loves them. LuAnn, I'll walk you through uploading more photos to our PHOTO ALBUM on the SF site.

BHappy - so nice to hear from you. Did you know that Clovis is within the same recruiting district as the Bay Area. We are putting together a starter kit for potential recruits and their parents. I need a couple of people as points of contact for your area. Any ideas? Of course, we would only give out screen names and names of the groups within the SF recruiting district. Will keep an eye out for USS Essex sailors. Talk later.

Welcome to javismom and Jackiesmom, both from Stockton. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. Look on the calendar above for the meet and greets we have on the schedule and I believe there is an informal one on May 16. Just read back a few pages for the info.

Navy Moms

I have a favor to ask? Would you be willing to, along with asking your friends and co-workers to cast a vote for my Quilt Guild. I entered my guild in a contest to try and win a $7500.00 Grant. The grant would allow the Quilt Guild to expand its community service projects (providing more quilts to more groups in need of them). If you can help me here is the information:

***************************************************************************************

Raley's is offering 5, $7500.00 grants to community groups.

They way they determine who the winner of the 5 grants are by votes cast in the community. Anyone with a computer and internet access can vote. You can vote once each day.

If you go to www.Raleys.com and register for their website, you are eligible to vote.

Once you are registered merrily go to the top right hand side of their page, click on "Raley's Reach Voting is now open". This will bring you to the voting page. On the voting page it has a "Search" box merrily type in the word "Quilt" and it will bring you to our slot. Push the vote button and your done!

You can vote everyday until they are done taking votes. Ask your friends and family to vote for our group. Don't be afraid to add it to your Facebook and have your friends there help us out.

If we are successful in winning this Grant it will allow our Quilt Guild to expand it Community Service along with Educational programs.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and double thanks if you are able to cast a vote!
