Good morning No. Cal. Moms, Welcome Bananmom, Yeah "the box" made me cry. Even tho I knew it was coming. We are all here for you. My sailor, Chrissy was in BC for 12 weeks due to injury, but she made it! When you see them march thru those big doors it is all worth it. Hang in there. Navy Hugss ~ Vicky

Thanks Cindy. We have traveled to Chicago several times (my husband is a Cub fan) but never in winter. We hear there are special buses that take you from O'Hare to GL and then we plan to find a place to stay near the base. Just wondering if there are places to go for the weekend because my son Mario's A School is also in GL. Any advice from the NorCal moms would be appreciated.

Welcome new moms and good luck through boot camp. It's funny how it seems to go so slow until it's over when it seems like time just flew! Our sailor won't make it home for holidays, he's saving his leave for a longer visit next year. Boo hoo for us!

My PIR experience was in October, doesn't qualify for winter. What I would say is to arrange travel so you could use shuttle or public transportation, unless you're comfortable driving in what could be bad weather conditions. If you stay somewhere close to the base (maybe even the Navy Lodge) it might make your trip much easier -- just in case!

Marsha & Bananamom,
So glad to see you getting acquainted with everyone. We have a few more new members. They haven't join the group yet (it takes a few reminders - you know how that goes for new moms - so much to learn - click here, click there - now where was that blog? what is she talking about?)

You all are so lucky. I just sent mine to BC on Tuesday. Got the "Oh my God, he's been vaporized! box" today from FedEx. Don't expect much beyond letters from him through February and he won't come home until probably April. It's weird. But you all have been through this ...

My Sailor, Chrissy, arrives in Sacramento Friday Dec. 18th around 7 pm. I will be picking up her son (my only grandson) from her ex and taking him to the airport. He gets the 1st hug!
