I could go into a long discourse of my marriage and divorce, but I will spare you all that, and just say I have problems w/ my kids not showing me respect because thier father didn't shown me any. They follow his example and think it is ok to talk badly to me. Even tho we have been divorced four years now, he continues to talk badly of me to them.

What an interesting afternoon of posts! I married myself a southern gentleman (most of the time) who insisted our kids refer to us and all adults as sir and ma'am from day one. For me as a native Californian it seemed foreign and stuffy at first, but I am oh so greatful looking back. The swearing is another story and something that doesn't happen often, but when it does -- the imagination and creativity is worth noting. It makes me think of the scene in the movie "A Christmas Story" when dad is fixing the furnace -- anyone remember the kid's narrative about his dad's abilities with expletives?

While my son was here over Thanksgiving he was retelling a story that happened with some of his sailor buddys and he asked my permission to cuss so it would be accurate!!! What a guy...

To chim in on the swearing I reminded our son when he was commissioned that he maybe an officer by an act of congress, but he is a gentleman by an act of his mother!

If one of the boys called me anything with "f*** ", my normally exquisitely polite husband would erupt like Mt. Vesuvius. Of course, I swear on a regular basis on the golf course. :P :( when no one else is around but hubby. He covers his ears.
Margie, click on "Summary of Events" above, go to the Dec 12 Meet and Greet to RSVP.
All you gals going to PIR this week, be sure to check out all the tips Cindy has gathered for you. See above under Discussion Forum.

Yeah, Once during the PIR weekend Chrissy called me " a f***ing civilian" and I said 'Now I know you are a sailor because you swear like a sailor. But I am still your mother so don't swear at me." I hope she behaves herself during Christmas. I just finished cleaning the carpets, so the place will look nice. She wants me to wait until she gets here to put up the tree. said "ok" to that.

I am sooooo excited. Tomorrow is the big day!! I starting to sound like a valley girl.
My nuke officer thinks all nukes are smart cookies. He said ETs are more "go-by-the-manual" smart but he EMs are more "Let's-turn-a-few-dials-and-see-what-happens" smart. He did qualified and got his dolphins earlier this month. They are back in port. For the next 6 months, he will be extremely busy being taking over in two positions simultaneously.
We have many nukes up here in North Calif. Here is my guy studying up for his future career.

Margie,
I am in the AECF - FCs and ETs group. It is my 2nd fav group. Come join us! My daughter is in GL.
Is your son FC or ET? Chrissy is FC, she is justing finishing up her ATT this week, then will be on hold until a spot opens up for her in A school.

Well, I can see that I need to check this group more often if I want to keep up. My husband described what it takes to become a shellback in great detail....think crawling through garbage for starters...EEWWW!
