Good evening everyone. Naomi actually asked what my preference was - for Adam to be in his uniform or in civies. I wanted Adam to be comfortable and enjoy himself. We left it up to him. I thought if he wanted to come in uniform and change into something more comfortable, that was fine. John and I are low key and want our friends relax and enjoy themselves and eat. Believe it or not, I still didn't get a chance to talk to everyone. So I will definitely look forward to seeing everyone again. If other places don't work out, our home is always available - we can have someone else head up the organization and do pot luck.
Here are photos. They have been resized for the internet. I have the originals in high resolution, in case anyone wants.

I'm sorry I missed it. I would love to host but not during the holidays. My son will be home, his Navy buddy, my sister in law, both daughters and a fiancee. My house will be overflowing with joy.

All....I had a wonderful time meeting all that could make it to Bea and John's yesterday!! Bea and John you two are wonderful host and hostess. I know I felt like family.

I am going to chime in here about getting together again. I think getting together again is a wonderful idea!!

However, being a long time Navy mom I want to throw a couple of things out there.

First, when our children come home, they want to see their family and friends. The last thing they want to do is get dress in uniform and socialize with a bunch of strangers. They will do it, but it is not what they would want to be doing. As I have heard from several individuals, we live and work Navy and when we are home we just want to be civilians. I know everyone loves to show their sailor and officer off, but don't make coming home for them any more difficult that it is. Make their time with you happy and enjoyable, not stressful.

Second, again, I think getting together is a great idea and I like the idea of getting together over the holidays. I know that I am very service minded, I belong to several groups that service the communiity. I know that time are tight for many out there, but I think it would be kind of neat if we could partner with a service group that prehaps gather toys for children of deployment service personnel? It just a thought.

Lastly, someone new need to step up to the plate and volunteer to host the get together, it doesn't just happen by it self, even tho Bea and John made it look so easy.

Ok, I am off my soap box now.

Again, it was wonderful to see and meet everyone.

Bea and John - thank you to the both of you for your gracious hosting. It was a wonderful afternoon. A Christmas get together would be great. Maybe I can get my son and daughter-in-law (also in the Navy) to attend.
Naomi - thank you for sharing your precious time with Adam with us as well. It was really appreciated

We had a wonderful time too. It was like having a big happy family party. I have some great photos which I will download tonight and a glorious photo of Adam and Naomi. With Naomi's permission, maybe I'll send it off to N4M to use. Put us down for Xmas. But first, who's got a son/daughter coming home. My guy is due back into port in Dec but don't know when he'll be here in CA.
I have to run for a 2 PM listing appointment. Talk to everyone later.
xxoo Bea

I am an Army Brat, lived in Hawaii for 6 years. A bit of advice if you are going to visit your sailor in Hawaii; get out of Waikiki. It is a tourist trap, everything is more expensive. To see the real Hawaii go to the North Shore.
I also heard that many recruiting offices are cutting back their hours. Since unemployment has gone up, more young people are looking into the military. Say a news report that said there is a backlog of people waiting to go to boot camp. I told Chrissy this and she confirmed it. I feel it was a blessing she got in when she did. Navy Hugss ~ Vicky

Remember Josh McDaniel, mechanist mate working as a recruiter right now will be there on Sunday. TrekkieDad, checking out condo you referred me to. Will pass Pearl Harbor MWR to our son. Khensey and her husband will be joining us on Sunday (she pm me but hasn't done the RSVP). Their son went to the same high school with my boys - his bc will be Nov 12. Lori's Joe is at BC, he started on Oct 8. We are up to 26 possibly 28 (if Adam and Colin joins us)
