In my last post I made a booboo. I said my son went to basic in September. It was August 12 he started. I have about 200 dates floating around in my head. In any case my sons pir is October 9, 2009. Not far off now. I hope I have the chance to meet everyone sometime. Jor-Jean, I am Santa Rosa, just up the road. I am also hoping my son is stationed in Ca. so that I could see him a bit.

It was so wonderful to meetall of you on Sunday. I felt so at home in the group. It was encouraging to hear everyone's story about their sailor and to appreciate the variety of stages we are each in.
Looking forward to seeing you all again in Oct.

Hello "Ashley's 2nd Mom",
My son is not in 356, but he is also scheduled for 10/16 graduation in division 363. I encourage you to search the group list for PIR 10/16 and you'll find a discussion for your division. There's an active group there. Will you be going to graduation, and if so, have you made your travel reservations yet? Here's a link to the div 356 discussion: http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir101609/forum/topics/ship-13-div-356-grad-n-go

Am I bad! I forgot my camera today. Naomi, LuAnn, Bea, John, Lisa, Leon, Michele, Peg and Leeanna were joined by Joshua, recruiter for San Jose/Saratoga area. It was great to see photos of our sailors and exchange information on their progress. Thank you Leeanna for organizing. Look forward to seeing everyone next month.
A big welcome to all our new members. There are many moms with loads of experience. I am still a newbie (I only joined N4Ms in Feb) , except for emailing!

Hi Noe - I was just looking at the group list and came across a group for 11/6 PIR. Looks like it's getting started and you should find it in the all group listing. I'm at my halfway point in the boot camp rollercoaster, looking forward to 10/16 PIR. It looks like we have our own little boot camp moms group in Northern CA!
Hello to everyone I met in our Sacramento meet and greet, look forward to getting together again.

Hey girls my son email me last night to say that today he will be getting his ballcap (USS Cheyenne) from the Captain in front of the whole crew. Excited and couldn't wait.
I guess we'll all have to see. If you find more info.....

I thought our son would get a bunch of caps for us. No? I found this on the internet. Is there an official cap? We would like to get some.

Congrats, Linda. Hi, Lynn.
Marynka, re: Rock Bottom Brewery: if you want me to order something on the menu for you, pm me with items. I'll have them have it ready around 1 PM.

Hello, Jimmyhendrix24. You'll be able to answer all those recruitment questions for us. Good to have you join. If you are new to the Santa Clara Country area and have any question, just send any of us an email. I have been a SCCounty resident since 1976. Bea

Leeanna, I brought my son's phone and laptop to PIR for him to use while he was in the hotel with us, but they can't keep them. You will have to take them home and mail them to A school. My son waited a week before he went to A school. Some wait much longer and some are grad and go.

My son left for Basic on September 12, 2009. Everything he took was returned. The exception were a few toiletries that his Dad insisted he take. Otherwise he would not have taken even those things. The recruters here were good about letting us know what he could have. I will warn Moms that getting the box of your son/daughters clothes in tha mail may be a bit tough. So be ready for that.
I advise all recruits and Moms/Dads to check with thier recruiter with questions. In our case the Chief Warrant officer and Petty officer that recruited my son were generous with information and advise.
