I live in Sutter Creek. I go to the Stockton/Modesto area often. My Mom lives in Manteca. And my BFF lives in Modesto. If you want to have a M&G just let me know when and where. Post it as an Event and you will get RSVPs.

Happy Valentines Day Everyone. These 'hallmark holidays' are hard on our Mom's hearts. If you are blessed to be able to see or talk with your sailor - please tell them thank you for their service. If not (like me) - think of a memory when they made you one of those projects that said "I love you Mom' in that very special child's handwriting, then send them a prayer. My valentine just arrived - our 13 year old grandson. I think that I'll take him to see the Hobit. I've not seen it yet and want to do that with him. Also his dog (Ollie) spent the night last night (what a bed hog).

I pray that all of you had a great Ash Wednesday. It was a breautiful day up the canyon (Yuba River - hwy 49). Service @ 12:15, then service in North San Juan at 3:30.

Have a great Lenten season.

Welcome to our new Moms. I didn't want to clean out our Sailor's room either - but I got told that it was not going to be a shrine. However, when he came home , he helped rearrange and pack up so we could use it for guests - and it became Owen's visiting room.

Hang in there. Our littlest angel (Miss Brianna who is five) is having a very hard time with her Dad's deployment - this is the first one that she remembers. And, she is a Daddy's girl (proof that he is a good Dad!). So, our DIL, called, and we are going to go up (Seattle) and visit for a couple of days. We will leave Sunday night - drive up part way, and arrive Monday. Leave Thursday night, and be home on Friday.

I'm leading a mini retreat at Cameron Park UMC on Saturday teh 23rd. My father in-law passed away a week ago yesterday.

Subject: http://www.theunion.com/news/obituaries/4758989-113/karl-kopp-nevad.... It was a blessing (and part of the reason why we can go to see Brianna - there was a little cash present). Just enough for the gas. I'll prepare my sermon during the time up there. We will have an Irish Wake on St. Patty's day - he was half Irish and half German.
Blessings to everyone - and prayers to your sailors ~s~

Good morning Ladies!  I have been swamped but lurking around, reading but not posting anything, as usual.  Rough couple of weeks for us since we lost our dachshund, Bullet, to heart failure last Monday.  Our 16 year old has lived with Bullet most of his life so he's been a bit depressed.  We thought we wanted some time to be pet-free but instead are adopting 2 dachshunds this weekend :)

Sutton's Mom... I had every intention of cleaning out Sam's room when he left and then just shut the door instead.  I finally got it done the week before he came home on liberty after A school.

Yamahamom63... I'm in Valley Springs but my hubby works in Modesto and we commute together.  Long commute to Stockton then Modesto and back but it works and we get to see each other.  Anyway, we are in Modesto almost every week day so it's not to far to travel on a weekend too. Pretty much everywhere is an hour from my house! My son's been in for a little over a year and on grad hold in Georgia for a few weeks.  If you need coffee and conversation, I'm usually available.

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day.  Just like any other day except the flowers cost 2x as much!

At least you won't have his empty room to look at Sutton's Mom.  Mine hadn't lived with me for years when he joined, but my family still calls my guest room "B's room."  Guess I do have a lot of Navy stuff in there, but it's NOT A SHRINE, I PROMISE, IT'S NOT! LOL

Comment by Vickyrun on February 13, 2013 at 1:27pm

Ok, yeah, if you are going to use his room for something else. Then you do have to pack up his stuff. Chrissy wasn't living with me when she joined up. She had left home, got married, went to college, had a baby, got divorced, then joined at age 24. Her 28th birthday is in 12 days. I sent her some nuts and dried fruit. She is on a health kick.

My niece is moving in with us to go to college so she needs his room, but I told her she could take anything off his walls.
Comment by Vickyrun on February 12, 2013 at 12:21pm

Good morning. Why do you have to pack up his room? He can't take any of that stuff to Boot Camp. What ever he does take will be sent back to you in a box, even his dirty underwear.

My son leaves in a week. I guess it's time to start packing up his room. :'(
