For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I've sent these links to a couple of you already, but I thought there might be some new friends who would profit from them. I have found them to be very helpful. You could find them by reading every post you could, like I did when I couldn't go to PIR. Had to do something instead of moping. But here they are in an easy to access place. Well, KrisMom, we seem to be the only ones on here STILL! How are things going for your Sailor? Hope you and your husband have had a good summer since your trip to Charleston. We have not been yet, but will probably transfer his car this weekend either by going ourselves or my going to get him, bring him back to Atl., and him driving back to GC. Hope all is well with you and yours.

HI! So glad to have you with us, ckwinn. I remember your name from boot camp. My son hasn't said much about the heat, but being from the Atlanta area, he's fairly used to it. Good to hear from you.

Welcome ckwinn! I remember your name from Boot Camp also. I hope
that all is well with you and MamaCindy! Have either of you heard
much from your sailors?
We have just returned from two weeks vacation.? I have taken the
time away from the computer as well. My Sailor is doing well. We
have lived in NC for the last 10 years so he is pretty used to the
heat. He did complain when he first arrived in Goose Creek that his
running time was down due to the heat and humidity. He had his 24th
birthday away from home - didn't even mention it to hardly anyone.
Said it was a workday anyway. He is doing well with the studies. So
far it has not been anything that he has found to be difficult.
However, he did say that the amount of information that they have to
learn daily is huge. He did get a cell phone and computer, but that
does not mean communication with mom .... :-). Thank goodness for
this site and you all. -
