I don't know if this is allowed or not, so tell me if it isn't. I was just wondering which bases Nuke's generally are sent to for Aircraft carriers. I had found a list a while back on Wikipedia and found 13 ships in about 5 different general locations. However, when I had discussed it with my mom, she said there was only Washington and Virginia. I was just hoping to look at colleges around each of the potential bases, so I could get a general idea of which colleges to look into once he's done with A-school and we are relocated. I wanted to see which ones had my major, and, if not, whether or not I should look into online college before I really invest any time and money at one in Charleston.

As a planner by nature, it makes me feel a bit more in control of things if I at least have a vague contingency plan. At the very least, the illusion of control will help make me calmer about matters.

There are also two carriers in San Diego and one homeported in Yokosuka, Japan - near Tokyo.
You should also be aware there are two ports in WA - Bremerton and Everett, which are quite different when it comes to college planning. Your wiki article probably has it right. Navy.mil also would be accurate - it is no secret where carriers are based.

How are they different?

Just that, while they may look close on a map, they're geographically distinct from each other, at least for a realistic commute - ferries are a possibility, but would be a pain to rely on for a daily commute.  Everett would probably have more options than Bremerton, though there are good options in Bremerton as well.

I am no help when it comes to which bases are where, but I love you last sentence about at least having the illusion of control keeping you calmer. I tend to feel the same way I need to have some sense of control too.

If you're still working on basic courses -- English, History, Math, etc -- you can start in Charleston with a couple of classes and transfer to another college.  Most online colleges/schools are extremely expensive.  It'll help cut costs.  Out of state tuition costs can eat your lunch.  What were you planning on getting your degree in?
