OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I've checked the other discussions and most of the info on housing is pretty old. I was hoping for current contact information of landlords, rental agencies, sailors who may be moving and things like that. My son will be graduating Power School end of March 2015...

Jeff Brown Realty in Saratoga had a lot of listings that were exclusively for Nukes when my son used them to find his rental

My son is working on getting an apartment at the Winner's Circle in Saratoga.

My son used the website AHRN.com to find a place in Saratoga Springs. He didn't want an apartment, and he and 3 buddies found a great 4 bedroom house on Saratoga Lake. The rent and utilities come directly out of their BAH. Start looking as soon as possible as the good places go fast!

I posted this back in September in the Ballston Spa group:

"I know there might be a group heading to Ballston Spa soon and looking for a place to live.  My son has been there since January and he and his buddies rent at The Winners Circle.  It's pretty close to the plant (which is a good thing especially during the winter!).  Very nice apartments.  They have 1, 2 & 3 bedrooms and nice amenities - pool, weight room, garage.  They do require a one year lease but they rent to a lot of Navy personnel and they will allow you to break the lease when your orders change.  We visited in April and I can vouch for them - nice apartments!  Oh - they are unfurnished but they do come with a washer/dryer!"

Also - here's the link to the Ballston Spa group.  You should join that too if your son is heading that way!
