While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Debiting Pay Without Explanation
My sailor was dropped from the Nuke program in March and reclassified as a Yoeman and shipped off to San Diego. This month, they started debiting from his paycheck $1,400 for "DEBT". They will continue to deduct this amount from his check until the remaining balance for God knows what is paid. This is absolutely insane! We have no idea why and he has not be able to get any answers. Has anyone experienced this with their sailor since he left the program? He asked when he was dropped from the program if there was going to be any financial obligations and they told him there wasn't going to be. We are at a loss and he can't get any answers. Any suggestions on how he gets to the bottom of why they are debiting his pay?

My understanding was that they got 1/3 of the bonus after completing Power School and the remaining 2/3 after completing Prototype. If they don't complete Prototype then they have to repay the 1/3 of the signing bonus. I have recommended to my son that he not spend that 1/3 bonus just in case. This may be a hard "lesson learned" experience--I'm sorry your son is going through it. I hope he is enjoying his new rate in the Navy and that things get better for him soon!

I spent the weekend with B and he confirmed what he told me before (after verifying with his roommates) - when he got his signing bonus it was 1/3 after A school grad and the balance was paid after prototype. He did say that it would have to be paid back if you didn't complete the pipeline.
It's unfortunate that your son can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone - although it doesn't surprise me :(
