For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Heading to Goose Creek
My son PIR's 12/28 and is heading to Goose Creek. Can anyone here tell me what is already in the BEQs for them and what they will need? For example - what size bed is there? and do they need sheets, blankets, etc?? Can they have a coffee pot ?? Thanks :)

Hi Stephanie,
My son has been in GC for a year now. They live in something similar to a dorm room. Two twin bunk beds, two desks, a chest of drawers, microwave and mini fridge. They share a bathroom with their neighbors next door. Sheets, blankets and pillows are provided. They only need their clothes, toiletries and some laundry detergent. Washers and dryers are free. They can have a coffee pot, computer, TV, etc. but the rooms are small...about 10 x 10 so there's not a whole lot of room for extras. My son has a bicycle and rents a storage unit 5 minutes from the base just to store his extra stuff. Hope this info helps. Good luck to your son.
