My daughter is currently completing Basic Training with graduation date in June. She will then transfer to Goose Creek into the Nuke program. She wasn't given much notice before being called to ship off to Basic (her date was moved up), and she did a good job paring down her personal clothing that she's asked us to send to her once she gets her privileges to wear her civilian clothes. However, I think she still has too much stuff, and wondering if anyone has photos of the barracks space for her personal belongings, or an idea of how much is too much? Thank you in advance.

Good question! I've been wondering that too
ProudMamaHen, Not a real good picture but the best I have. Lots of drawers under the bed. Also they have a closet, desk with shelves above. (Also a combination refrig/microwave) Hope this helps!
BTW, my sailor is going back to Goose Creek as an "A" school instructor at the end of the summer!
Best of luck to your smart daughter!!!!
Whatever you do don't leave a burrito wrapper in the microwave my son did that once and failed room inspection for unsanitary conditions Lol. I believe the Pepsi can left on the night stand (see photo) is also enough to get dinged.
LOL William!
Pat, thank you! Maybe my daughter will have your Sailor for her instructor? The side-by-side room arrangement looks fairly spacious and I see the drawers underneath that look like they hold a lot. The other photo posted below looks like the top bunk doesn't have that under bed storage and the room looks a lot smaller, too. Can't believe how much space clothes take up (especially for girls) even when you think you did a good job paring down. Once I put everything together (shoes included) it still seems like a lot. She may be looking for other female recruits to "gift" and/or a charity nearby. I know she won't even be able to leave base or wear their civilian clothes for the first month or so. Lots of fun ahead.
How many to a room? Hopefully my son will learn to keep a clean room LOL.
My son is at A school right now; there's 2 to a room for him. He said they get dinged if their trash can is not where it's supposed to be. They can inspect anything that's not LOCKED, too, btw. He has an armour that they store clothing, etc. in.
I had given my son the good Floatsam and Jetson and on purpose he left it on the night stand. The Inspecting sailor got a laugh out of it and wrote on the report that there was random Floatsom and Jetson.
ProudMamaHen I'm a bit slow to respond but I have been just sending specific items of clothing as my sailor asks for them. He's a guy but I've no doubt his closet looks a lot like your daughters! I think it's working out well and gives him some civvies without being over-run by them.
TJ ProudNukeMom, thanks for that advice. I think that's what I'll do, too. Pare her clothes down by at least half (or more) and send things as she needs them. I took a photo inventory of everything she had and then numbered them all, printed the list and will give that to her. I told her if she leaves some things here, then she can travel light on leave knowing she has clothes here to wear.
