My son just had his PIR 4/19 and is heading to A school tomorrow. His wife is wondering how long it will be before he is able to bring her to SC? She is thinking within a week. That seems really fast. Has anyone else had a child who was married and went to nuke school? Any tips you can pass on? Thanks!

Mom2Five - welcome! I have 5 children as well! I honestly don't know the answer to your question, but some of the ladies only check on their phones over the weekend, and it can be harder for them to reply, so hopefully you will receive some feed back soon.
Your DIL should be able to contact your son's recruiter and he may be able to give her some information. My other suggestion is that she at least make sure she has all of her affairs in order, and starts packing whatever she can do without, because once she gets the go ahead on a move, she will want to be ready.
All the best and welcome to Nuke Moms, you DIL is welcome to join this site as well, and there is a group for Girlfriends, and Wives as well.
Thank you! She is packed and ready, whenever they get the go ahead.
It doesn't look like many of the girlfriend, wives groups are that active, but here is one that has the most recent posts. Your DIL would probably get the most responses from the Nuke Moms group.
Oops! I think I forgot to actually copy and paste. I am sorry! This is Prototype graduation for my son and so I am pretty tired myself. My apologies. And not likely to get it this time around either.
Hi Mom2Five - back when my son PIR'd (2012) he had a shipmate that was married and they allowed him to fly home, get his wife and all their stuff and I think he had to report to SC within a week or 2 after that. (They drove back.) Your son will need to get with his SLPO (Section Leader Petty Officer) ASAP and get the information. It should be fairly quick. I'm surprised they didn't give your son all the info while in boot camp.....
