For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

MMs on grad hold in Goose Creek awaiting Prototype
Hi everyone, I've looked through all of the discussions and I just can't find one that is particular to MMs on grad hold in Goose Creek after they graduated from Power School and awaiting Prototype. If you have a sailor that falls into this category, I hope you will join me here so we can learn from each other how things work, how soon it takes before they start shipping some up to Balston Spa or down the street in Goose Creek and also if their GPA really makes a difference as to how long it takes before they start Prototype (yes, I've heard it makes a difference). Come join me and let's get to know each other so once our sailors are in Prototype, they may just get to know a new friend based on friendships started here within this discussion.
Also, other moms that have had their sailors on grad hold, please join us as well and share your multitude of experience. We are always ready to learn from others that have gone before us.

Oh the car scraper gotta love it... I go out to my car and no scraper for my kids have taken it.. Lucky me I have a CD case it works.. You get very resourceful in finding ways to scrape the windshield. HAHAHAHA...that and sometimes you need a little can of de-icer for the car door locks thats when you cant find the set of keys with the remote....
Just be thankful wearing Beanies is the style so we know all of our kids are wearing hats... and scarfs are also in style yea!!!

Love the ice scraper request!!! That made me laugh out loud. Best of luck to those of you who have sailors already up in BS - it's gonna be a crazy cold winter and will be praying for their safety.

My son was #1 in his section and I think #4 in his class. He graduated as MM on 10/07 and he's still on grad hold. We're so proud and hoping he goes to BS (we live in the Philadelphia area). We're excited as he is coming home for the holidays for about 2 weeks.

my son graduated MM on 10/7 and just found out that he will be staying in Charleston for prototype and classes up on 2/17. I don't know if gpa makes a difference or not, my son's gpa was 3.8 something. he is married and did request to stay in Charleston, so maybe that is why he is starting prototype earlier than some.
he took college classes for the first part of grad hold and then switched to some desk job so he wouldn't have to worry about being gone for 2 weeks at Christmas.

Well, we are about a month out from the rumored class up date - anyone hear any updates? I haven't heard from my son since he got back from his Christmas leave on 1/3... maybe had too much Mom time and needs a break :)

Well, I found out last night that my son is not in the 2/17 class in BS so it looks like April now. Unfortunately, his best friend did get in that class, and the rest of the guys he had been hanging out with left in December. So, Grad Hold continues.

Sorry to hear that as I know that once they make friends, they really do prefer to be able to celebrate their successes together. Please keep us informed and, in the meantime, mine is on grad hold as well for an indefinite period of time.
