OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Power School class 1103
Anyone have sons or daughters in Power School class 1103?
My son is in 1103-10. I was recently in GC and met several of his friends - I was very happy that they are all very bright and intense people. My boy has surrounded himself with some very good people. I mentioned the N4M website and while none of them knew about it, several thought their mothers would be into it. So I am putting the call out there and hoping to connect with other parents.

Geeze, Nukemom, your son has told you a lot more detail than we've gotten from ours. Just said his first week was kind of boring, and going over old math and physics stuff. He did text me today that he got a 3.43 on his RPS test, (I had to ask what he was tested on) so he's quite happy! He says he'll do a lot better on the math and physics testing, and I don't have any reason to doubt that. So far, so good. He's happy, so mama's happy. :)

News from NNPTC: Sorry ladies, I was on vacation the last week and didn't talk to Keith all week. My other son and I went to Honolulu for spring break. I went to Pearl Harbor - it was actually a very moving experience - definitely a worthwhile visit.
Okay, news: They had a Physics test last Wed., they have a math test tomorrow - he says it's algebra-type story problems. They are studying heat transfer in addition to math and physics. So far he says he's bored, it's just a review of what they learned in A school. One of the instructors chewed him out for not paying attention in class - Keith is making flash cards during the class to help him study later. I guess the instructor thought that was okay in the end. Keith said (again) that the Japan nuclear systems are different than what the Navy uses and they aren't discussing the situation there. He also said that they aren't talking about Libya/Bahrain stuff (which suprises me). He says they are changing over to dress whites on April 4 and they have a whites inspection tomorrow.
He didn't say too much this week. I guess things are going along - he says he doens't have a lot of free time between school, studying and trying to keep up on PT.
Anyone else have any news?

My son told me about the tests. And he says it's like ninth grade math, so not really challenging for him. He may have mentioned heat transfer, but I know I won't understand that stuff well, so I think it just goes in one ear and out the other.
The big news? He texted me that he scored 3.97 on his math test today--highest in the class! Nice! :)

I realize this is old news already but 3.97 - wow, that is fantastic. I think the highest my son has received so far is 3.82. GPA so far has been 3.7 roughly but he's not satisfied and still working on bringing that up.

Nukemom Mine told me the same thing I wonder if were talking to the same kid?. Mine also said He has to go to the white board alot to show how to do stuff. he likes to stay in the top but doesn't want the number 1 position its not NASCAR so top position is good.
I don't know how he scored yesterday when I returned his call the storm was hitting and no reception. I do know that if he calls to report his score or calls on test day its usually a good score. let me rephrase it Its what he thinks is a good score he puts himself on a score he will call and say I need a 3.7 and if he gets a 3.69 you don't want to answer the phone LOL He did tell me as long as I grad with Honors I'm OK I just think How did I have or raise kids that smart??? I know they are learning stuff they can't talk about but even if he did I would never ever understand it .but then again if I talk muscles and bones he gets a blank look like I do with what he does..

OK, I have to add this: So my son texted me that he scored 3.97 on his math test. Several exclamation points. Very happy. His next sentence? Two points away from a 4.0.
OMG. I was gonna call him on it, but decided not to. Just made me laugh so hard! :D

Javajo50 - My son, Keith, was the class honorman A school 1050 - is that the same A-school class? If so, they probably do know each other. Keith told me today that he is #1 in 1103-10 section. We are from Seattle - does that help you know? How about your son? Can you tell me something to identify your son? You can send me a private message, if you don't want to put it on here.

Hi everyone, talked to Keith today and here's the news he gave me: He had to move from one building on the oval to one opposite. They told him about the move on Monday and he had to be out by Wednesday. He wasn't happy about the short notice since is was such a busy week between moving, studying and work. He said his new room was a mess and he had to spend a lot of time cleaning it up - he would have failed an inspection otherwise. They had two tests last week, math and physics. They have one math test next Wed.; still studying math, physics and heat transfer - math ends on Wed., new subject after that.
He doesn't really have a lot of news to report - he's settled into a routine of school and study times and doesn't have a lot of free time to do much. However, he spent yesterday at the mall and went to the aquarium (I didn't even know there was an aquarium there).
Anyone have any other news to share?
