I was wondering if you receive notification in mail of graduation and information on required procedures you must follow to attend (entrance/parking/etc..)  similar to boot camp instructions for PIR day.  I am also reading various discussions when notice will be given towards next step.

One week?  2 weeks?  before next step of training.  I did not see this info on the pages.  If I missed it sorry.

Thank you

acb2 - Do you know about when your nuke is supposed to finish power school? Mine keeps saying towards the end of April. He keeps saying they will not change the date, but that's not the idea I've gotten from reading this site.

I'm eager to go to Power School graduation because I was in Italy for A School grad (I know, I don't get to complain!). PIR was so incredible, I'm looking forward to seeing how they do this one. Plus, the weather will be warm, unlike PIR when it was 17 degrees!

Yes seaman called. Can only leave 2 days. Probably drive back right after graduation. Yes I'd like to meet. Not sure what I'll wear. Seaman has get me on base early he said. You staying for awhile? Crazy. Just found info out. Been bugging him so I could take off work if he had leave

It is a lot more relaxed at power school graduation.  I would be surprised if they changed the date.  You either move forward or you don't.  Your sailor should have their dates by now for the end of school.  The graduation is great, just a lot more relaxed for the parents.  They even encouraged us t come closer to the stage to take pictures.  They stop the sailor when they receive their certificates for the families to get the shot.  Wonderful day.

when my son graduated power school, we were sent an invitation.  I don't remember exactly what it said since it has been over 2 years.    good luck to your sailor!!

abc2 - my daughter is graduating from A school on Friday.  When I asked her if I'd be getting any information or invitation in the mail she said that the information was going to be passed out to them later this week.  She in turn will give it to me when I get there later this week.  Obviously this isn't power school, but maybe they're doing the same type thing.

Thank you all for your shared experiences.  He should be done at the end April.  No news yet.   I am waiting to hear what is required for the event, where he goes next, when etc... I am sure all of you have gone through this.  I want to make sure I am prepared so I can see him.

Thank you

acb2,   our Sailor had invitations given to him for us to come to A school graduation.  It was very informal and short.  I think that the PS graduation is a "bigger" thing with a much larger class of sailors.  You may be able to find something about the graduation on youtube.

I am looking forward to having all the family come, but am not sure if there will be limits on number of invitations.  Best to you.

When my older son graduated I wore all dark navy blue and all the other moms, wives, and girlfriends and sisters wore pretty, light colored floral sundresses! Wish I had known! When this son graduates it will be a light colored outfit! It was probably 90 degrees and very sunny that day.

How early do I need to arrive at the gate to get on base? One hour, two hours before the kick off time for graduation ceremony?

Heidi86, My son graduated PS on SC, so if that's where your's is than you should get an invitation from them and he was nothing to get in to the graduation.  It's a lot more relaxed that PIR and a lot less formal.  My son graduated last September and it was hot/humid in SC so you'll want to dress in something cool and bring water.  People wore a variety of outfits, some very dressy and other not so much.  It's a very laid back ceremony compared to PIR, but a beautiful one.  The person speaking made sure that each person got their photo op as their sailor crossed the stage, which was great.  It's a not to be missed graduation.  Enjoy.
