Unfortunately, I'm having difficulty finding detailed information on the procedure upon arrival for Sailors who are already married. Most of what I find when I search is about people who are getting married while in training.

What I'd like to know is when do the spouses get to come down to Goose Creek? I currently live in Arizona, so I was planning on going down to Charleston immediately after PIR to find a house while she checks in and starts the request for moving funds. Once we found somewhere to live (hopefully in Summerville), I'd leave the car with her and fly back to Arizona so I could load up a moving truck and come out to see her.

Any feedback would be welcome.

Hi! Hopefully this helps :) My husbands PIR is 6/20 and the schedule looks like this, it could be different for you but the time frame is usually pretty similar. 20th - Liberty
21st - He flies to Charleston from O'hare
22nd - Sunday free day on base
23rd - Pick out house
24th - Sign paperwork
25th - Fly home to help me move
So the way it works is that once she gets to the base she will immediately pick out housing and orders will be put in so you can move as well. Depending on what you two choose you should have the option of having the Navy move your belongings, or move them yourself. I hope this helps! Feel free to message me if you have any additional questions!

Morgyn :)

Thanks so much for all the information! Did he get the information from his division commanders?

He has been talking to the head Nuke guy at Great Lakes. And it has all been passed through his commanders :) So as far as we know that is the "general" timeline. I should know for sure this week and will definitely let you know :)

Has your wife left yet?

She swore in and arrived at RTC on 14 May and her PIR is scheduled for 11 July.

How are you doing? The first couple weeks were the hardest for me. But it will fly by! Just stay busy, and there is a ton of support on here if you need and want it :)

I do alright as long as I don't dwell on it much, but I've got enough going on with the Guard this month to keep me busy between phone calls and letters. Thanks!

Do they give any advance to help pay for gas or anything like that? Or do they only reimburse when you turn your expenses int?

Did they let you move off base after a while? And are there pet restrictions or deposits in the on-base housing?

Thanks for the info! :D
