Thinking of Thanksgiving trip to Goose Creek to be with sailor...

Any ideas for a special Thanksgiving time, in Goose Creek/Charleston on a super tight budget?  Just a single mom wanting to spend quality time with sailor son.  Any other single parents planning the same trip?  Maybe share cost of condo rental, etc. to host holiday meal.

The villas are probably the best way to go - they are inexpensive and you can cook a great Thansgiving "feast" for your sailor and anyone else you may want ot have. You will have to have your sailor check and see if there are any available. The three bedroom are nicer than the 2 br, but only about $10.00 more per night. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I agree we did the villas 2 yrs ago. Got everything from the commissary and had a great dinner and had 5 extra sailors join us.
Thanks for the replies. Wondering if any other parents would want to share villa rental, rental car, etc.?
I'm actually going to be up at Goose Creek for Thanksgiving. :)
We finally got the okay from my parents. Villa is rented. Plane tickets bought. And Aaron bought a car so now we have a way to get around. :)
The plan is to cook Thanksgiving dinner at the Villa on Thursday. He doesn't think it'll turn out very good, but I think he underestimates me. I told him he's allowed to invite friends that are stuck in Goose Creek for the holiday, too. :)
How do you find a villa? I have googled hotels and vacational rentals with no luck.
The Villas are actually on the base in Charleston. Apparently they're old apartments sailors used to live in, and now they're rented out as hotels. You can't book them, only your sailor (unless you or a family member going with you has a Military ID). Here's the website. :)

They even have the number to the ITT Office, their hours, and where they're located. I had to give this info to Aaron so he could book the villa. He had no idea what the ITT office even was or where it was for that matter. :)
We spent a week this summer at the villas and loved it. Keep in mind that it is basic accomodations but very serviceable. We shopped at the commissary, be prepared for your sailors Navy family to hang out too. Enjoy.
I have pictures of a 3 bedroom Villa on my page, you are welcome to look. The three bedroom are duplexes, 2 story. The two bedrooms are 4 units like an apartment and the 4 bedrooms are single story. There are no taxes so the price is wonderful and completely furnished with basic cooking supplies. I cooked several meals for my sons friends the times we went for A School and Power School graduations.
Dana, Those were some good pictures! Thanks for letting me know that you had them. :)
Aaron had been wondering what the Villas looked like inside.. he didn't want to be taking to me to some place trashy. I figured they'd be fine, but I think your pictures put his mind at ease. :)

The living room and dining room look SUPER nice! I'm getting really excited to head out there!

Aaron was wondering if there's towels and such there.. I told him I would assume so, but that I would ask to find out. :)
Yes, towels. However, we brought our own sheets, as there's were a bit rough. Also, washer and dryer--we brought very few clothes and did our laundry. Bring your own coffee or tea.
If you look waaaay back on the discussions, there are more pictures of the villas. I forgot the page number, I think it was 19, dated May 9, 2009. Put Foster Creek villas in the search box for the discussions. We stayed there for Thanksgiving 2008, and again for power school graduation. If there is something special you plan to cook and need a special size pan, you might want to take it with you. They are furnished, but very basic. There is the NEX and commisary close by. We also bought several things at the Dollar General just up the street, then left them in the unit. I'm sure others do the same thing. Enjoy your visit.
Driving or flying? We have done both, bought goodies at Sam's and fed tons of sailors! It's one of my short blogs on my page. We stayed at the villas.
