For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son is in prototype with about three months to go. He is so very frustrated and stressed out. He wants out of the program completely, but wants to stay in the Navy. Has anyone whose sailor completed the program offer any advise or words of wisdom? He is an ET. He does pray about it everyday, and of course, I am praying for him, too.

How is your son doing? What is his status at this point in time? My Son is going through a very similar situation as your son....although perhaps a bit further along--he is separated from the Nuke program and just waiting now to see if he will be re-rated or separated from the Navy. Best of luck and prayers for him and you.
He completed prototype in January and just arrived yesterday in Norfolk and wants out in the worst way. He is pretty depressed. He doesn't like his job at all. The recruiters totally misled him as to what the job was- guess I shouldn't be surprised by that...
How can your son decide yet he already doesn't like it if he just reported to Norfolk yesterday? That means at this point he has spent at most one day on his ship and zero days at sea. I can understand if he did not enjoy the nuclear training pipeline and congratulations for completing it successfully - but he hates his job after what, one day on the job? What could he possibly have accomplished or failed to accomplish even, in the fleet so far.
How about give it a couple of months to form an informed opinion and meet the people he will be working with.
I told him the same thing- give it time, see what it is all about. He is basing his opinion on what instructors at Goose Creek have told him the job entails. He wanted out of it in prototype, but was discouraged from doing so by someone in charge.
