For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi everyone, My son PIR on 19Mar and goes to GC 23Mar, My question is where is the mini nex that has the Post Office mailboxes? I read about it somewhere and now I can't find it again!! I read that they can get their mail/pkgs faster if sent there. I want to tell my son about it when I see him on the 19th. thanks for your help.

I am the proud GRANMA of a Nuke. He has only been there about a month now and is kept very busy. I hope to learn more about what it is like there so we can support him without taking up too much of his time for study. Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

Hey Casey~ PMB (personal mail box). He is able to mail items from it, and I am able to ship boxes to it. By using the pmb...his address stays the same.
Btw...Thank you for all of the great info you post.

I agree with the Craigs list as wellas the Goodwill store. My daughter said she got a ton of stuff there (barely used) because people keep coming and going.

Rae- Don't push Mike right now. He NEEDS to be in bootcamp mode while he's at bootcamp. Once he gets to Charleston, he will quickly find out how things really are and you can relish in the "you were rights." ;)

Hey ladies. I have a few questions and concerns. My fiance just graduated boot camp and will be leaving tomorrow and arriving at Goose Creek tomorrow evening or night. I have talked with him about the importance of getting the paperwork in or talking to a commanding officer about getting married as soon as possible (asking permission). Then once we are married to apply for base housing. He says that we will not be given base housing, that i shouldnt get my hopes up and that if it does happen, it will be a long time. I have told him about some of the conversations that we have had online here, but he still thinks that it wont matter. I dont know how to talk to him about it any more. He is so concrete in his thinking recently. It seems like everything that he hears from RDC's and people in boot camp is all that matters. Also, we talked about BAH and how if we live on base BAH goes towards housing on base, but if we live off base BAH is pocketed and put towards off base housing. He wants to live off base but my parents and I have some fears about living off base. We, (my parents and I), talked about the importance of safety and a common community as well as friends and a support system by living on base. I was just looking for any and all advice I can get. Mike is still pretty brain washed from boot camp. Talking to him was difficult today because of how much he changed, he has no room for flexibility in his mind at the moment.

Does mike have to ask permission to marry me? I heard that someone just went out and did it one weekend. Also, do they make it hard for sailors to get married? I just dont know what to expect. Sorry, i didnt mean to confuse you ladies. I appreciate your help so much.

Are the boys assigned a CO from the time they get to base? Mike will be getting there on Saturday.

I heard that there was a wait for classes- A school and what not- at the moment? Is this true? If so how long is the wait?
