Doing okay, so far. Really hits me a little bit at a time and last evening was particularly difficult. he is my oldest, so everything that happens is a new experience for me, Navy or not. My husband and I met with his recruiter last evening (who just happens to be a neighbor) about questions that we had about what to send, where to stay for when he graduates, etc. We did learn that he leaves our house on Monday the 1st and goes to Cleveland that day (we're on Ohio). He leaves from Cleveland on 10/2 and that's when he will arrive in Great Lakes. I didn't sleep much last night. But I know he'll be okay. Days are going to get rougher. I am having "lunch dates" with him once a week until he goes. Today was our lunch day and we had a good afternoon. Hope everybody else is doing well. Thanks for asking! :)
My son is going in for Rescue Swimmer (AIRR). What rating are your kids pursuing?
My son leaves on October 1st
My son was given a date of Oct 30...
Anyone else?
My daughter leaves for boot camp on October 2nd and her older brother just moved out recently. Now we are down to one child still at home. I am not handling it as well as I thought I would. Good to know that I can come here and have others who understand.
Hi B'snukemom! I know i cannot believe i'm making a big deal about 10 days, but it is 10 whole days , right ?!!
I think you have really have your plate full, and your heart heavy :(
I sure do hope everything goes smoothly for you with both moves. You will certainly going to need some "you time" when they have started "their" journey. Don't forget that. And remember, we are here for each other :-)
Best of luck to both your young men!
Hi Bellamom2 - wow 10 less days with your son :( Sorry to hear that......
I keep expecting my son to come home from a DEP meeting and tell me the same thing.....so far no changes though - date is still 10/23.
Getting ready to move the youngest into the college dorms on Sunday.....things are moving too fast!
I need to start planning going away party for oldest - I guess I better get on that!
Have a great day all!
Just got the news, they moved my son's date up 10 days! Now he leaves 10/1 instead of 10/11 :(
