My Sailor went to BC on October 4th of 2011 he just got his orders yesterday... He will be on the USS Flordia stationed at King Bay, Georgia. We face timed with him for over an hour last night it was AWESOME... He may get to come home for a little while in June... My fingers and toes willl be crossed until then..

Thanks kendrasue!  Yeah I've kind of been lurking around on the N4M site for about the last 4 months or so.  Just finally joined when my son got his ship date.  I've gathered tons of helpful info from everyone and in the process come up with lots more questions!  I'll just wait and see as we get closer what happens with his PIR.  We're from California and don't have any family in the Chicago area so it's nice to know that he would still be able to spend the holiday's with a group and not alone!  I'll keep checking back as time goes on :)

Hi everyone - I'm new here.  My son doesn't leave for boot camp until 10/23/12.  He will be going in as a nuke.  I've been looking around on the various sites and can't seem to find any info on how graduation works around the holiday's.  His 8 weeks should put him right at Christmas time.....Does anyone know how the schedules work then?  Trying not to worry too much about Chicago in December!!! (we are from California!).  Any info would be appreciated!  Thanks everyone :)

Hi there everyone.. I have not posted anything on here forever.. My Sailor left for boot camp on October 3rd. His PIR was December 2nd. Went to Groton, CT for Sub School right after graduation. He was there for ten days than came home for two weeks for the holidays. He has been back to Groton for week now and I miss him so much.. My Sailor just found out yesterday that he got the kind of Machinist Mate that he wanted.. He is a MMW or TM (torpedo man). He will be working with the torpedoes on a sub.. He is one very happy Sailor right now..
