@ maja. It is so great to meet people like you. I can't wait to meet face to face. We are staying at a courtyard, I kinda jumped the gun getting our room. As soon as I got the letter with his grad date I booked our flight, hotel and car as a package deal. It was before I was told about this site, so I didn't know about the meet and greet. I wish I could change it but we get have fees if we cancel any part of the trip. With that said we will for sure have to meet up at the ceremony. If you are on Facebook you cab friend me @ keykey89014@yahoo.com. I am so happy to have meet so many great people already through this site.

@Krisitie - What a small world!  2 families, hundreds of miles apart, now brought together by our children who, up until a a couple of weeks ago, didn't even know each other!  I think that is so cool!  We'll have to come up with a "pin" or "color" or something so we can find each other.  Can't wait to meet you and your family.  Pretty sure we'll get to know each other quite well over the next 6 years.  Where are you staying for graduation?

@Proud Navy Mom.  I miss my daughter something fierce and can't wait to hear her voice or receive a bit more than a 4 sentence note written on the back of a form letter but the 4 sentence note was a start!  See, negative turned positive.  I sent her a book of stamps and a prepaid phone card.  Pretty sure she'll get the hint.  In the meantime, I write her a letter at least every other day, if not every day.  Don't really have anything to say but I feel good knowing the chances of her having a mail call with no mail are very slim.  So, by doing something as simple as writing a letter because I know how good it will make her feel makes me feel good too. Again, positive energy.  Glad to hear about the pumpkin carving.  It's a step in the right direction.  I certainly don't mean to sound as though I'm lecturing you.  That is not my intent at all.  I just know that trying to keep positive thoughts or a positive attitude, has been my saving grace.  That and good friends at Navy 4 Moms!

Thank you maja. I appreciate very much your kind words and encouragement. It means alot to me.

I'm trying to not dwell on it today. Went to store with my younger son and bought a pumpkin and we are carving it now. Well - he is. We worked on scraping out the inside and I helped him get the pattern taped and now he is tracing the pattern onto the pumpkin. It helps doing things but I still miss my SR and the phone call / letters can't start soon enough for me.

SR's job is "advanced computer electronics".  Don't know what that is in Navy lingo.

@ maja..my son is on the same ship in the same div ad your SR. What is your SR job? You said 6 year term, that is the same as my son.
I so have appreciated all the advice and support from everyone on this site. It has been a life saver and I have only been a part if it for a few days. Thank you to everyone!

To Proud Navy Mom - Ship 09 Div 015.  Hang in there.  The letter will come.  For now, try "the no news is good news" thing.  Find comfort in the fact that you know where you son is and that he is safe.  Feel pride in knowing your son is serving our country.  Trust me, your child being is boot camp is not like a death.  He is not "gone" just busy.  I lost 5 family members in the 1st 6 months of this year. So, in the middle of all of that, the last thing I needed to hear was that my daughter, my only child, had enlisted in the Navy for 6 years.  But you handle what you get dealt...one thing at a time.  Try to turn negative thoughts to positive ones.  That's what I try to do.  It isn't always easy but I always try.  Positive energy is better for you inside and out.  Plus, there are so many of us "Mom's" here for you.  You are not alone.  I have found so much solace and comfort from the other Mom's.  Keep talking to us.  Together, we'll make it through.  Will keep you in my prayers.

I got my letter a few days ago.  Daughter sounded really good.  Dealing with the "early rises" much better than I thought she would.  Said she didn't have time to think about how early it was or how tired she is.

Still no letter today. :(. I had my son for 19 years and I'm having a very hard time with the not being able to talk to or him him or at least text him. I've also had the same feelings of it being like a death. I sob sometimes when I think about him. When I'm not sobbing I'm crying. I really need to get a letter soon. I miss him alot. I know I'll probably feel alot better once I hear from him and can hear from him that he is doing ok.
