Joniana -- I used callsforrecruits.org. I looked and all I could find were the cell phone cards. So, I e-mailed callsforrecruits and they e-mailed me right back and now I have a list of pin numbers with the phone number to send in my first letter to my SR. They send you 8 numbers, and tell you to have your recruit share 2 of them with someone who doesn't have one. Great service they provide.
Can anyone give me advice about phone cards for bootcamp? Did you purchase them ahead of time? If so, where from? If not, did your SR purchase them at BC? We are panicking since my son leaves in a week. Many thanks.
kendrasue - that is a perfect explanation for how I'm feeling. The elephant is what is kicking my ass. My son is 21, so was ready for him to get some independence, but the thought of months at a time w/ no contact & seeing him once a year if I'm lucky is what makes it so painful.
BTW, I got the address from the recruiter today and it matches exactly the one on the list for Ship 11 - I guess I'm going to try it & hope for the best. Recruiter also said PIR is scheduled for 11/27, so that's the Wed before Thanksgiving. Hoping that is true & that would mean an extra day after PIR before he once again flies away.
I'm going to have to practice good bye - I really suck at it so far :(
Bethin-((((hugs)))) I had a breakdown at work Saturday morning. Just lost it. And then again that night. We went to A&W and a family with two little boys came in. I just started crying. Made it yesterday. But I still have three at home, and another close by. I feel for you. Vent all you want, that's what we are here for.
Brandon' s mom - my son arrived at GL the 3rd. I'm not sure if your son would be in the same division or not.
Well, made it to 10 am today without a tear - huge improvement. Poor husband - it was his turn. He has always been the morning parent since I go to work so early. 1st day he had no one to wake up & get moving - called to say we should try to travel together for a while. sigh
Momm2five, is that address for the most recent group to arrive at GL? My son shipped from Houston on Oct. 1, but he said he's in one of the early groups arriving. Would love to put a letter in the mail!
