This time last year was cold, and rainy. Bobby and I tried to go to Yosemite on Sunday (before he left), and it was snowing!!! Our summer was not too hot, so maybe its making it up for now.

Hi all'
Too hot for a red scarf today, but a red top will be just fine.

Doda;
A bunch of us crocheted and knitted scarves that we wore at our kids' PIR on 12/4/9. Some of us even made scarves for other moms. We wore the red scarves because we are supposed to wear red on Friday to support our troops. I think several other PIR groups picked and continued our scarf wearing.

The new job is for a CPA in Fresno as a staff Accountant. The pay is good, and I get overtime too!!
Hope Geoff get his leave and comes home to see you. Bobby doesn't know yet when they will be returning, so its red scarves on FRidays again.

My son was at Great Lakes for A school, which closed from 12/18 to 1/2/10, so he came home on the 18th and returned on 1/2. It was wonderful to have him home. I have not seen him since 1/2/10, and I am eagerly awaiting the return of his ship from deployment, sometime between November and February.
LFM221, thank you for your upcoming service to our country.
Lynn and Kendra,
Friday the 1st, it is gonna over 90 here in Fresno, but my scarf will be ready. I'm also knitting a scarf for my friend Lori, her son is in the Air Force.

Question for moms of sailors who left early october last year. How did Christmas break work for them? I know that 8 weeks from my ship date falls right after thanksgiving, but I was wondering if your sailor had time to come home for christmas or how that worked since it's only a few weeks after we are set to PIR.

Just curious so as to get an idea of how it will go. I ship on the 4th and I'm soooo nervous, but my mom is curious about when I will be able to come home, which I'm sure you ladies understand. :)

My son left last year on 8th, and PIR'd on 12/4/09. I know that a group graduated before him, but I can't remeber the date. I know that there were comments about making Thanksgiving dinner in the hotel rooms. Keep us posted on your son's PIR date.
If he doesn't graduate on the Thanksgiving weekend, he will be a senior recruit and if he signs up he can be adopted by a local group, like the VFW. My son was adopted by the VFW and treated to a big T day dinner, football on TV, video games, phone calls home and to friends and computers. He had a ball.
Your son will send you a letter with his offical PIR date, then you can make all your plans.

Question for all the moms who sent your sons to BC last October...My son leaves Oct 4th. Is there a delay w/BC completion/graduation due to Thanksgiving? 8 wks will be the day after the holiday...or will he graduate the end of the following week (9 wks). I know that after he leaves we'll find out his PIR date. I'm just trying to plan ahead w/my work schedule.
