Goldwingmom, I feel exactly the same,my son left yesterday , and all day today it felt like I was in a fog. The call that I received last night was ......I'm here and I love you. I am counting down the days until I can see him, and talk to him.

My son left yesterday, Oct 1.  It's hard to describe all the emotions I am experiencing, like today at work, I just feel numb.  When they were lined up to get on the bus, I didn't want to let go, I knew if I did he was gone forever.  He texted me a couple of times on the plane and called when he landed, then I heard his voice for the last time at 9:45 last night, "I'm here mom, I love you, gotta go".  I'll never forget it...............God bless all you moms who are going thru this right now, it was the hardest thing I've ever done.

I think my husband gets it, but seems like when i show my emotions, he wants to fix it, well it cant be fixed, I am extremely proud, dont mistake my empty nest syndrome for lack of pride :) men... guess they deal with it in thier own ways....

No doubt he is also on the coaster - our recruit is his only child and they are thick as theives. I'm thinking it will hit him HARD when we put the Boy on the plane.  For once, I hope to be the strong one or we will probably need a cab home from the airport :(

My husband is on the coaster too but... He would never say it. He is gonna miss his buddy. But he also says this will be good. Which it will. :). But I know his true feelings. Lol. But he does not get the drop and cry at any mo eat. Lol. I well I can't stop it. This morning at the bank my teller days did you get your boy off yet?! I was like tomorrow and Wednesday day. My husband just hugs me and says this is where he is meant to be.  Which I understand, just so many unknowns.  My youngest is only 4 and we are really worried how he will be without his big brother.  My teenage daughter is extremely grumpy, which is driving me nuts.  I know we are all going to miss Tyler, but it is where he is meant to be.  I've been telling people "say the right thing and I can burst into tears."  Trying to be strong is extremely difficult.

So, I've not seen much of this, but does anyone else's husband just NOT GET IT ? He would prefer I not cry, thinks it's ridiculous that I am a wreck inside & just can't seem to understand that this is a forever change for our family.  Love him dearly, just ready to throttle him. Hopefully this is not what life will look like forever - I will have to be asking you ladies to help me hide a body !

Blstz - He leaves from Albany.  I have heard PIR for us MAY be Thanksgiving week, May be on Wed instead of Friday or May be the following week.  I figure we won't really know till we get the famous letter.  Part of the roller coaster as some of us call it, is that we no longer can make our own plans, but "Keep Calm. Love a Sailor" lol.

Bethin NY -- I may have asked this, but where does your son leave from?  My son Tyler leaves from Syracuse.  Also, the recruits who left last week have a PIR date of the 22nd.  That means our sons would be the week of Thanksgiving, I think???
