Heather,
I was born and raised in Geauga County. My family lived on RT 6 just west of Chardon!!! Where are you from???
I'm from SW OH. Welcome Heather!
Hi Heather, central Ohio here. Best wishes to your son! FYI, there is a Facebook page, “Ohio Navy Moms” that is quite active.
Hi Heather and Welcome!
Hi, I am from northeast Ohio, Geauga county.
Son is a recruit at Great Lakes.
Current Navy Mom from central Ohio. Haven't been on here in awhile but this site was very helpful.
Any Navy Moms in the Dayton, Tipp City area? My Sailor has been in for nine years now. Currently stations in Hawaii.
MJDogs,
For a place to eat, I highly recommend Giordano's Deep Dish Pizza. There is one in Gurnee just west of the Gurnee Mills Mall on Grand Ave. Best pizza ever!!!!! And then there's the Gurnee Mall. Don't know how long you'll be there but if you get a chance to look into taking a train from Lake Bluff to downtown Chicago you can visit the Navy Pier. I've never seen the "Bean" but maybe you'll have better luck. You can also take a riverboat cruise through downtown that shows all the wonderful architecture of the buildings.
Got any suggestions of things to do after PIR? We are driving from Ohio to Great Lakes. Tentative PIR is Nov 16. Not sure any outdoor stuff will be an option...
Welcome! I'm in Licking County and my son just graduated on 8/10 if you have any questions.
