Beautiful Lala!!! I'm a Pacific Northwest girl by birth, but been in So. Cal since high school so there are times I miss the snow, but I sure did enjoy this 80 degrees today!
Joanne!!! We have to get together!!! California, how wonderful!!!!
Kim
oh my goodness thats a lot of snow! its about 80 degrees here in orange county california already and its only 10:45. Yikes! feels more like summer! Rory comes home on thursday! Sounds like we are gonna head down to San Diego and check out the USS Midway, which is now a naval museum. Should be fun!
Lala, it's beginning to look like that here in SE Michigan. 6-9 inches predicted for us. It is so pretty--just a pain to drive in. Looks like my son will get to see some snow when he arrives this coming weekend for Christmas. I see some snowball fights in the future, 'cuz the snow we're getting today is that very wet stuff that's great for snowmen and snowballs.
Hello all,
Just wanted to update you, my sailor has been given duty station and C school order's, CALIFORNIA it is, we are very happy. Now instead of a five to six hour flight to visit it can be less than a five hour drive....... Not sure when he is being let go from Pen Cola, but he is pretty sure he will make it home for Christmas. Hope all is well with everyone. Lala what a beautiful picture, but not sure if I could handle that much cold. Hugs and warm holiday wishes for everyone.
Thanks rorysmom, it is hard to believe she is finished with school. But that is one of the reasons she chose that rate. She was tired of school lol. They have been through a lot and I hope the new year will be better for them.
This is what we woke up to this morning here in Western NC, 6 inches of snow. We rarely ever see snow before January. Our average snowfall for one season is 6 inches for the whole winter. Last winter we had 42inches in Brevard and it looks like this year is going to be the same.
Lala...your sweet little sailor is done??? Congrats! But hernia surgery for the hubby? My sweet Lord, that family has been thru so much this year! Hugs to them both!
I just can't even imagine leaving PIR with my sailor for Christmas! What a gift! I still get a sad feeling in my heart when I think about standing there at Ohare in the rain looking for my sailor before he left for Florida and watching many others do the same!
My sailor will be home in 5 days for 10 days! So busy...Christmas, engagement party and all that comes with those special things! God bless to all!
Hi everyone, I haven't been here since BC. Luke graduated as a corpsman in november and he is still on hold in the great lakes. he has his next assigment in Virginia, but has no idea when he will go. He's being very strong and patient, but i feel for him because he really loves being a corpsman and wants to get going on doing the work he is trained to do. He is coming home on the 17th for leave- happy days-it's been 7 months since he's been home! and then he goes back to the great lakes on the 1st. Dos anyone know anything about hold- why?
That is crazy, you would think that 32 would be cold enough for a coat!!! I wonder how they come up with some of these rules. I definitely would have kept him indoors where it was warm. :) And you think she got a lot of time with her sailor? The next 2 groups get to bring their sailors home with them for Christmas. No Grad and Go at all. I wish I could have spent more time with my sailor but I am still glad it was in the summer. I would NOT want to fight that weather. Snow measured in feet instead of inches!!! YIKES
Thanks Lynne, you are always such an inspiration to me. I don't know what you do for a living but you should be a writer. You have an amazing way with words. I am so happy for your son. There is a huge world out there waiting for him and I am sure he is going to enjoy finding it.
My sailor graduates from C-school today. Then she officially reports to her command. It is hard to believe she is finished with the schooling part already. We should find out today if she gets to come home for a few days between now and Christmas. It looks like Her hubby is going to have to have surgery for a hernia. Not sure what kind of changes will result from that. I hope they will let him wait until he is in VA. If not it could mean another yr in FL. I know that would be very hard on these Newlyweds.
I really miss all you guys so much. This summer was amazing like Lynne said and I too will treasure it always. Will all of you PLEASE Please send me your mailing address to my inbox. I hope you all get to see your sailors soon and have a Wonderful Christmas and Holiday Season.
Good to hear from you Lynne and so happy your son is doing well...can't wait to hear where he goes with his life!
Talked to a friend of mine yesterday whose sailor graduated the Wednesday before Thanksgiving! First of all, they got him from Wed. after PIR thur Saturday night at 9pm then again on Sunday! For all of us who went thru Grad & Go this just stinks LOL! But I am happy for her! Also, she said the sight seeing was kept to a minimum as it was 27 in Chicago and their camera shutters froze up so no more pictures but the interesting thing was she said her sailor about froze because Boot Camp rules were that they couldn't wear their pea coats until it was 20 degrees out so he only had his rain coat and thin gloves on! She said he was miserable! Can anyone tell me the difference betwn 27 degrees and 20 degrees! Yikes!
