Good morning my friends!  I woke up this morning to some nice photos of one of our "kids" on my facebook, which got me nostalgic for you all, lol...

Just wanted to pop in, say HI and give you a bit of an update with how things are going in my civilian world lol.

My son has finished his term at school and he not only completed each of his classes (he used to drop out of classes or college all together BEFORE his bootcamp experience, so this in itself is a big victory, yes!)  He did very well for himself with grades so I am very, very proud that he has put himself in the right direction now.  When he started this last term, his idea was film....and he took a couple of classes to start him off in that direction.  He has since decided that is no longer the direction he'd like to follow, so now we know and we make a new plan.  Fine with me, I just want an education and then he can have more options to pursue as he goes along...more than he has now!  He has grown quite a bit since last spring when he was waiting for bootcamp, I am happy to see him doing so well, gaining the confidence he is gaining and at last, starting to "find" himself.  He always was the one who arrived late at life....even when he was born, he was 12 days late and STILL was not ready, even after 30 hours of being induced!  (sorry, too much info, I am sure! hahah!)

Anyway, so happy to see you all here, still communicating with one another.  I needed to wander away for a while, just so I could focus on all that needed focus.  Lala, I do hope your daughter can come home...and I do agree that she needs to be with husband and husband needs to be with her, especially now.  so much has happened...I really should go back and read up!  she got married after all.  Amazing, our kids are really grown up, huh!  Its hard to see it that way and yet...not that hard when you look at what it is that they are doing.

Anyway, I have missed the daily communication with you all.  My summer with you all was a memorable one...one that I will never forget.  You all gave me a once in a lifetime experience...your friendship is one that I will always treasure...I look back to the summer of 2010 and I smile.  You are all the ones who put that smile there for me and I thank you all for that!  Know that you are all always in my heart, your kids are usually on my mind...and I pray for "our whole family" always...  The happiest of Holidays to all of you and all who are in your circles.  Stay safe, stay healthy and stay happy...much love to you all my sisters...:))

I agree Michimom...over the next few years I guess we have to recognize the the world doesn't stop for those of us who have family in the military on holidays, birthdays etc...there will always be a job to do out there!
Just got a nice wake-up call from my sailor...he thought he would class up Jan 17 but looks like it is Monday 12/6! He still will be able to come home 12/16 so we have double to celebrate!

You and your family are in my thoughts, Lala. I guess we have to get used to the idea that our kids are "owned" by the Navy now. I guess it's like their first real "Job" with responsibilities that interfere with holidays. :( We really do have to get used to it. I'm already figuring that we won't see my son next Christmas, so we'll have to really enjoy this one.

Ohhhh Lala...my heart goes out to both of you...I hope it all works out. I can imagine her husband feels torn also....I hope it all works out.

Missing my sailor so much. Today is her 21st Birthday and she was told yesterday that she will probably not get to come home during the Christmas break. This was after she had been told she would. She was very upset by this. She doesn't want to have her sailor hubby come to her because she thinks he needs to be with his family, especially since his sister was recently killed in a car crash. I tried to reassure her and tell her he could split his time and that she is his family now as well. Poor thing, not a good way to spend her birthday. :-( Please pray the Master Chief changes his mind and lets her comes home even if just for 2 or 3 days.

It is so good to hear from so many. I am happy a lot of my sash sisters got to spend Thanksgiving with their sailors. Hopefully those who did not will get Christmas with them and actually I hope those who did get Thanksgiving get Christmas as well :-) My sailor was home for Thanksgiving. She came home and bought a new car (new to her). It seems very small to me. I think I would rather she bought a tank lol. I still have my fingers crossed that she will get to come home for Christmas. She is putting in a chit for a weeks leave but she is pretty sure that even if she doesn't get it she should still get a 4 day weekend so that will work :-) I am pretty sure the new hubby gets to come home for a week as well, maybe longer. Congrats Rorysmom, man our group sure has gone through a lot of changes. Michimom- I hope they took some pics of the sailors at Thanksgiving dinner and send them to you. It is so nice that people do that for our sailors. I only wish I lived near a base I would definitely invite several over for Thanksgiving dinner :-) Dustins girl- most of the time they go out on different tours that differ in length. They may be gone for a couple weeks and then back for a month and then gone for 6 months and back for a year. If you do some research you can find the rotation schedule for what your sailor will be doing and where. Of course a lot of it depends on where he is stationed. Ships company? Send me a message with his rate and any other info you know, like base, ship, squadron etc and I will help you figure it out. I know my sailors ship is on a 6 month tour and is going in dry-dock for an extended amount of time when it gets back. Could be a year or could be 2 yrs I have no idea, But it looks like she won't be going on tour anytime soon :-) But they do go out and come back over and over and over.

Ok. Maybe some of you guys will have some more information for me. In a 4 year enlistment how much deployment time would a sailor have? It seems like some of the people I've talked to say 2 years of it they're gone out to sea. If that's true are they gone the whole time or do they go back to their home port periodically?

So many blessings this Thanksgiving...sailor is home, my Dad is here for his 75th birthday, and, did I forget to mention that my sailor proposed to his girlfriend, Allyson, last night! Hope the rest of everyone's weekend is wonderful!

Happy belated Thanksgiving, Sash Sistahs! Hope those of you who have your sailors this weekend, even if it's just for a short weekend, have a great visit!

We didn't see our sailor this weekend, but we will have him home for two weeks at Christmastime, so that will make up for it. He was adopted for Thanksgiving by a former Marine and his family, along with two other sailors in Charleston. The wife even gave them leftover turkey and stuffing to take with them, so he has leftovers! Then, after that full meal, he went out with a few buddies to dinner again that evening. I don't have to worry about him not getting enough to eat. LOL He's doing great, and is ranked 4th in his class, only 1/100th of a point away from 3rd. So proud of him!
