Lala- Congrats on your daughter getting married. I'm also very sorry for everybody going through the pain of losing a loved one. My prayers are with all of your family.

Ruthann and Lala...my son swore there was testosterone in the drinking fountains at BC...he said the RTC's never drank from the same fountains and his division wanted to murder each other half the time! Maybe Love Potion #9 in the girls water fountains?

Wow Incognito, that is quite a story. My sailor did the exact same thing in Pensacola. She got married Sept 3rd, 4 days before he left for boot camp. There has been a lot going on. You will have to read some of the posts. Too much to type it all again. I too am having a hard time getting used to my daughter having a husband lol. I swear there is something in the water in Great Lakes.

Hi Fellow Oreo Queens..long time no 'see'. I am still around... back to missing my sailor. She got engaged in Pensacola. Told me I had 5 weeks to plan a wedding, then changed her mind (said they'll wait till next summer) then graduated A school (with honors) and came home for a 3 week visit during which time she and her fiancee ELOPED (without telling me) lol Once I recoved from the shock of that, I embraced my new son in law. Hes a great guy! And check this out... my mother saw my daughters fiances step dad's comment on my daughters FB page and realized she knows him. Yep turns out I also know my daughters step father in law... a little more than 30 years ago HE almost became my step brother. ROFL. My mother entertained the idea of marrying his dad..but they decided not...didnt want to mess up a great friendship. They remained friends until his death about 10 years ago. Its sad cause Roger would have LOVED the idea that his son ended up being my daughters step father in law. LOL Anyway, my sailor just landed in Hawaii 24 hours ago. Of course she cant wait to get her husband there and I still cant quit get used to the idea that my daughter has a "husband" LOL. So how is everyone else these days? .

So Dustin told me yesterday that now he won't be home until late January. Originally he was supposed to be done with school this month. The class he's in is done December 1st and that's when his C school starts so they won't let them class up. They have to wait a whole month for the next one to start. It's so discouraging every time I hear something like that.

He goes to Pensacola we thought he would be there for a year but hopefully only about 6 months. And he is only staying home 14 days and he has to go back to great lakes to get his orders. We just left the visitation for his sister. They were all wearing the ribbons I made for them, even his sister amber. It just breaks my heart. This was supposed to be a vary happy and exciting day at PIR.

Oh my Lala...so many emotions for you right now I'm sure. Will keep this young couple in prayers...so much going on in their lives right now! Do we know where Nathan will go for A school? I was so happy reading that he will be home for a month to be with his family...that must give them such comfort!

Wow, Lala, congratulations! Yes, you have had quite a year of changes. And, yes, you suspected this would happen, didn't you? It is good that Nathan has her there to support him at this time. Please tell them that there are people they don't even know who have them in our thoughts and prayers.

Welcome Dorine, you are more than welcome to join our group, we all have sailors so this could be a great place for you to ask questions. Our sailors are spread out all over the place. Some are even in other countries. So if you have any questions just let us know. :-)

Rorysmom- you are not the only old one here lol, In fact I am probably older than you. I learn something on here every time I log on and I have a lot more to learn. So........ I have already shared this info with Ruthann and now since the cat is out of the bag here at home I may as well share it with the rest of my Sash Sistahs, My sailor pulled a sneaky thing on all of us. When Nathan was in Pensacola to visit her just before he left for bootcamp they got married and didn't tell anyone. I know CRAZY right? So yeap, she is married, I really had a feeling they would do that, my intuition was so strong in fact that I even looked it up on the computer and found out the truth. When she found out that I knew she said "So, Mom, how did you find out? Did you open some of my mail or something?" I said, "No, I googled it!" She couldn't believe I found out on the internet... One important thing I have learned is you can find out anything you want to know on the internet.

I really want to thank you all for the support and prayers we have received this week from you. Nathan got to come home yesterday right after battle stations but he spent a very long time on a jet in Chicago because of weather related flight delays. When he finally took off and made it to a layover in Atlanta they grounded all flights. He ended up having to take a 3 1/2 hour Taxi ride home to NC. You know that has to be a very hard trip for a young man who has been up all night during battle stations and has just lost his sister. The family will receive friends and family tomorrow evening and the funeral is Sat morning at 10 am. Please keep us all, especially my new son-in-law and all of Amber's family in your prayers. We appreciate you all so much.
